Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join with you in prayer lifting up each of these burdens before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus name.

We are so thankful your oldest daughter was physically protected during that shooting and lockdown at her college. What a terrifying experience for her and for you as her parent. We pray for her peace of mind and heart as she processes what happened. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. We pray He will cover her under His wings and be her shelter, for he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We ask that fear will not take root in her, for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We also pray with you that in nothing you would be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, you would let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We also lift up you and your fiancee and we thank God that you have been getting along and treating each other with respect, love and kindness. This is how God calls us to love one another, be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. We encourage you as an engaged couple to continue to pursue this courtship with the goal of a lifelong marriage covenant as God designed it between a man and a woman, honoring Him in all things. We strongly endorse marriage and pray you will move toward that holy commitment without delay, for marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. If there is any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we gently but firmly urge you to turn from it, for we are called to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. We also encourage you to be equally yoked as believers, for what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness 2 Corinthians 6:14, so that your marriage may be built on Christ. Husbands are called to love their wives even as Christ also loved the church Ephesians 5:25 and wives to respect their husbands Ephesians 5:33, bearing with one another in love and clothed with compassion, kindness, humility and patience Colossians 3:12-14.

We rejoice with you that you have seen improvement in your daughter who was disrespectful and not listening. That is an answer to prayer and we praise God for it. We continue to pray for her and for your son, that when they are not around you they will still choose what is right and walk in integrity. We pray they will obey their parents in the Lord, for this is right, honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise Ephesians 6:1-2, and that you will continue to train them in the way they should go Proverbs 22:6, trusting God to keep them even when you cannot see them. We pray they will learn early to trust in the Lord with all their heart, and not lean on their own understanding, in all their ways acknowledging Him and He will direct their paths Proverbs 3:5-6.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is by His blood and His name we can boldly bring every fear and need to God.

Father, we lift up this family to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask You to heal the trauma and anxiety from the shooting, to place Your hand of protection over the oldest daughter and her campus, and to give her Your perfect peace. We ask You to bless this engagement, to keep this couple pure, kind, respectful and Christ centered as they prepare for marriage, and to make their future marriage a testimony of Your covenant love. We lift up the younger daughter and son, thanking You for changed behavior, and asking You to continue to work in their hearts to be obedient, respectful and to choose righteousness even when no one is watching. Draw each one closer to Jesus and let Your will be done in their lives. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We were burdened to read what your family has walked through this week, and we are praying with you.

A lockdown and shooting on your oldest daughter's campus is a frightening thing for any parent to hear about from a distance. We are thankful she is safe, and we understand that fear does not lift right away for either of you. It can help to keep a gentle, open door for her to talk when she wants to, without pressing for details, and to remind her that most colleges have counseling and support staff available if the stress lingers. Just knowing you are steady and available means a lot.

We also hear your thankfulness that you and your fiancee have been getting along with more respect and kindness, and that your daughter has been listening better. Those are encouraging signs. Continuing to practice clear, kind communication and consistent expectations at home will help that growth continue, especially for your son when he is away from you and making choices on his own.

We are joining you in prayer for each of them by name.

Father, we lift this family to You. Cover the oldest daughter with Your peace after what she experienced, and keep her safe at school. Give this parent wisdom and calm as they love each child well, and help their home be marked by patience, respect and kindness. Guide every step ahead according to Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we join you in bringing these burdens before the throne of grace, where our Lord Jesus Christ alone is our hope and our peace.

We pray first for your oldest daughter and for all those at her college where there was a shooting and the school was placed on lockdown with police everywhere. What a dark and fearful providence this is, and how it tries the heart. We ask the Lord to keep her in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed upon Him, because she trusts in Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within even when sorrows are surging round, and when loved ones are far away we are safe in Jesus keeping. May the Lord remove servile fear and give that holy fear which puts wings upon the heels to fly to Christ, and may He comfort all the students and families who were shaken, and guard them from harm in the days to come. We pray, Fear not, for I will help thee, saith the Lord, may be made very real to her heart.

We also lift before the Lord your relationship with your fiancee. We thank God that you desire to treat each other with respect, love and kindness, for these are fruits of a heart changed by grace. We pray that you both will seek first to honor Christ in all things, remembering that true love desires obedience to the Lord. At the back of everything must be faith in God, and faith and holy fear together bring forth obedience as their gracious fruit. If you love one another, show it by pursuing what is holy and pure before God, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and it is within that covenant that living together and the gift of love finds its proper and blessed place. We pray that you will be strong and very courageous to observe to do according to all that the Lord has commanded, turning not to the right hand or to the left, and that your obedience would be wholehearted and complete, the obedience of children and not of slaves, the obedience of love and not of dread. May the Lord lead you to seek His will earnestly and to walk in purity, and if it be His will, to enter soon into that holy covenant with reverence and joy, that your home may be built upon Christ.

For your other children we give thanks that your daughter has been acting so much better, where before there was disrespect and not listening. This is cause for gratitude, and we pray the Lord will deepen this work. No one is truly saved unless he is in his heart obedient to Christ, and we pray that both your daughter and your son will come to know that obedience which springs from faith. We pray especially as you have asked, that when they are not around you they will still do what is right. That is deeply spiritual obedience, the sincerity that seeks to know the Lord's will and to do it even when no eye sees but God's. May they learn that obedience is the highest practical courage, to stand for Christ when others do not, whether at school or among friends, and may they find that to do the will of Jesus is rest, and that it works in us peace and joy and gratitude and love.

We pray that your whole household may be brought into covenant relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no other name, and being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. May He keep you all, and teach you to bow your whole minds to the obedience of faith.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will guard your daughter at college, establish your home in holiness and kindness, and cause your children to walk in truth whether you are near or far, that strangers and those nearest to you alike may yield themselves to Christ and find in Him perfect peace.

We are joining you in prayer for your family and bringing each of these needs before the Lord.

We pray for your oldest daughter after the shooting and lockdown at her college. What a frightening experience for her and for you as her parent. We ask God for His protection over her, for His peace to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and for comfort as she processes what happened. We pray that He will keep her safe, calm her fears, and surround her campus with safety, and that she will know His nearness in this anxious time.

We also hear your prayer for your relationship with your fiance and your desire to continue to treat each other with respect, love and kindness. That desire is good and pleasing to God. Scripture teaches that love is patient and kind and honors one another, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, with living together and sexual intimacy reserved for within that covenant. So we pray that God will help you both to grow in that kind of love, to show honor and purity to one another, and to seek His wisdom for your future together. If you are living together now, we encourage you to seek pastoral counsel and to take steps to honor God with your bodies and your home, pursuing holiness as you prepare for marriage, so that your relationship may reflect Christ and His church.

We thank God with you for the improvement you have seen in your daughter who had been disrespectful and not listening. We pray He will continue that good work in her, giving her a respectful and obedient heart. And we pray for your son, that whether he is with you or away from you, God will give him wisdom to choose what is right, to resist temptation, and to walk in integrity. We ask that all your children will grow in faith and character, knowing that God sees them at all times and loves them.

We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ alone, through whom we have salvation and access to the Father. May the Lord give you strength and peace as you trust Him day by day, and may He draw each member of your family closer to Himself.

Your heart for your children comes through so clearly in this request, and it is right to bring each of these burdens to the Lord in prayer.

For your oldest daughter, what a frightening thing to go through a shooting and a lockdown at her school. We pray for the peace of God that passes all understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Scripture reminds us that God is our refuge and shelter, and that He sees and keeps His children even in places of danger and confusion. Pray that He will calm her fears, heal any trauma from what she saw and heard, and surround her with His presence and protection each day she is on that campus. Pray also that this would draw her closer to a living relationship with Jesus, for true safety and hope are found only through faith in Him. God does not want a distant legal relationship with us, He wants a loving relationship as a Father with His children, and through Jesus we are adopted as sons and daughters and made children of promise.

For you and your fiancee, it is good that you desire to treat each other with respect, love and kindness. That desire honors God. Remember that our relationship with God is primary, and when that is right, our relationships with others can be right as well. God’s design for love between a man and a woman is fulfilled in the lifelong covenant of marriage, and He calls us to keep intimacy and living together within that covenant. We pray that you both will love one another as Christ loves His people, with purity, patience and self control, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ, and that you will seek the Lord’s wisdom about moving toward marriage in a way that honors Him completely. If you are living together outside of marriage, we encourage you to take steps to honor God with your bodies and your home, trusting that His way is for your good.

For your other children, we join you in thanking God for the improvement you have seen in your daughter, and we continue to pray for her to grow in honoring and obeying you. God places tremendous importance on this, telling children to obey their parents in the Lord for this is right, and to honor father and mother. When that order in the home is lived out, the whole family is strengthened. We also pray for your son, that he will choose what is right even when you are not with him. God calls parents to teach His ways diligently to their children, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the way, when you lie down and when you rise up. As you consistently teach and model the Lord’s ways, and pray for them, God works in their hearts to want to do what is right because He sees them always, even when no one else does. Children often bear the weight of the choices made around them, and living in a corrupt and confusing world can quickly affect their morals if they are not anchored in the Lord, so covering them in prayer and grounding them in Scripture is so important.

Father, we lift this family to You through the blood of Jesus which alone makes a way for us to come to You. We ask for Your protection and peace over the oldest daughter, for Your grace and wisdom over this engagement that it would be shaped by Your design for marriage, and for Your hand on both younger children that they would love You, honor their parents, and walk in obedience whether seen or unseen. Make each of them children of promise through faith in Christ, and pour out Your mercy and blessing as they trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
