Jesus, I was despised and rejected because of Your name. Please take off from ### and ###’s children what he took off me and my child. Please bless ###’s family with the gift of salvation, so that at least his children may be saved. Do not forget me, Jesus. Let ### feel ashamed and truly regret what he did.

We hear your cry, dear sister or brother in Christ, and we stand with you in this pain. The rejection and despising you’ve endured for the sake of Jesus’ name is not in vain, He sees every wound, collects every tear, and promises that those who suffer for His sake will be blessed (Matthew 5:10-12). You are not forgotten. The Lord remembers you, and He will never abandon you (Hebrews 13:5).

We rebuke the spirit of bitterness and unforgiveness that may seek to take root in your heart. The Bible commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13), not because the offense was small, but because Christ’s sacrifice was great. However, we also recognize that justice belongs to the Lord (Romans 12:19), and we pray that He would bring conviction and repentance to those who have wronged you. Let their shame be turned into godly sorrow that leads to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10).

We lift up ### and his family before the throne of grace, asking that the scales would fall from their eyes. Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over this household. Soften their hearts to receive the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). Let the children, especially, come to know You as their Savior, for You said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these" (Matthew 19:14). We declare that no weapon formed against your family will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break any generational curses or strongholds that may be at work in this family line, in Jesus’ mighty name.

We also pray for your child, that they would be shielded from the effects of this pain. May they grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord, rooted in His truth and protected by His angels (Psalm 91:11). Father, restore what has been stolen, joy, peace, reputation, or provision, double-fold, as You promised in Joel 2:25.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who has suffered rejection for Your name’s sake. Lord, You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would surround them with Your love and remind them of their worth in You. Heal their wounds, Lord, and let them experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We pray for ### and his family, Father. Open their eyes to see the truth of the Gospel. Soften their hearts to receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Savior. Let salvation come to this household, and let the children be saved, for the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37-38). We ask that You would send laborers into their lives, people who will share the love of Christ with them boldly and compassionately.

Lord, we ask for justice, but we also pray for mercy. Convict ### of his sins and lead him to true repentance. Let him feel the weight of what he has done, not for the sake of revenge, but so that he may turn to You and be saved (Acts 3:19). We declare that no weapon formed against this family will prosper, and we break every curse and stronghold in the name of Jesus.

Father, we also lift up this dear one’s child. Protect them, Lord, from the effects of this pain. Let them grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52). Surround them with godly influences and fill their heart with Your truth.

Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would restore what has been stolen. Give them double for their trouble, as You promised in Your Word. Let them see Your faithfulness and provision in every area of their life.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on God’s promises. The enemy may have intended harm, but God will use this for good (Genesis 50:20). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can uplift and support you, and continue to pray for those who have wronged you. Your obedience in this is a powerful testimony to the transformative love of Christ.

You’ve carried a deep hurt and a cry for justice that hasn’t been answered yet. When it feels like Jesus has forgotten you, our hearts ache alongside yours. We hear the weariness in asking not to be overlooked and the tangled mix of wanting redemption for an offender’s children while still longing for that person to feel the weight of what they did.

It’s honest, and you don’t have to tidy it up before God. Lament is an ancient way of bringing every broken piece to Him, your anger, your pain, even your yearning for shame to fall on the one who harmed you. He can hold all of it. He is not afraid of your rawest emotions.

Many of us have wrestled with wanting someone to regret their actions. That longing is often tied to a hunger for our own pain to be seen as real and for someone to say, “That was wrong.” And it was. What was done to you and your child was wrong. Jesus does not forget that. He is the God who collects every tear and carries the wounded close.

At the same time, we’ve found that when we keep holding onto the desire for another’s shame, the bitterness can seep into our own hearts, not because we’re bad people, but because that weight was never meant for us to carry alone. Releasing the offender into God’s hands doesn’t minimize the harm; it simply stops letting that person’s wrongdoing define our days. God is the just Judge, and He knows how to deal with wrongs far better than we ever could.

One small, brave next step might be to invite a mature, trusted prayer partner or a small group from your church into this. You don’t have to sort through the hurt in isolation. God often uses the listening ear and steady prayers of others to help us breathe again and to keep our focus on His faithfulness when the silence feels long.

We are praying with you now:

Jesus, you see this one who feels forgotten and rejected. Draw near and let them know they are not invisible to you. Hold the pain of what was taken from them and their child. We ask for your justice, and we trust you to handle the offender according to your perfect wisdom. We also ask for the salvation of that family, please bring your light to those children. In your mercy, release our friend from the exhausting need for the other person to feel shame, and replace it with your steady peace. Heal what still aches, and remind them they are loved. In your name, Amen.

It is no small thing to suffer reproach for the name of Christ; indeed, it is a mark that you belong to Him. But take care that your soul does not harbor a root of bitterness. You ask that this man be made to feel shame and regret. I would have you press deeper into the truth: true repentance is not the mere pain of discovered sin, but a gift of God that leads the soul to look upon Him whom it has pierced and mourn with a godly sorrow. It is repentance unto life, not the sorrow of the world that works death. Pray that God would grant this man such a repentance as gives glory to God, for without it, shame is but a prelude to despair. And as for the children, it is a most gracious prayer that they should be saved. Salvation is of the Lord; preach Christ to them in your life and in your secret intercessions. But remember, the only salvation worth having is God's salvation, planned from eternity, purchased by the blood of Jesus, and applied by the Spirit. Not the move of a supposed affliction from one house to another, but the flood of sovereign grace washing sin away.

Do you fear the Lord has forgotten you? Look again to the cross. In your suffering, you are but sharing the lot of your Master; yet He has borne the wrath that was your due. Persecution often drives the saint nearer to the mercy seat. Let it be so with you. Cease from fretting over the wrong, and instead lay hold of the joy of His salvation. Your own soul is secure not because of your persecution, but because of the finished work of Christ. Trust no more to your tears or your trials than to your sins; trust only to Him. And in the strength of that trust, forgive as you have been forgiven. Pray that you may see the day when both you and the household that has wronged you shall meet, not in contention, but around the throne, redeemed by the same precious blood.

The One who came to His own and was not received knows the pain of being despised and rejected for His name. Yet the disciple who records this is not ashamed of the dishonor of his Teacher, but rather records the insolence used towards Him. For the shame rightly belongs to those who offered the insult, not to the One outraged. And He, by this very thing, shone brighter, taking even after the insult so much care for those who had offered it. So when your soul cries out for that man to feel shame and regret, remember that the truer shame is his already, in having rejected what was sent for his good. But the greater desire must be for his healing, for the wrongdoer to come to know the salvation you have asked for his children.

You plead for the gift of salvation to visit that household. What did those obtain who received Him? Faith comes, drawing on it the grace, so that the promise comes into effect. For where grace is, there is a remitting, and where remitting is, there is no punishment. Punishment being removed and righteousness succeeding from faith, there is no obstacle to their becoming heirs of the promise. The earth itself is a nursery of the soul, a place where things that were dead are born over again. So this very trial of yours can become a court of justice not for vengeance, but a hospital for souls, a school of philosophy where even those who have wronged you might be cut off from their sin and bear fruit unto life.

You ask Him to take off from those children what was taken off from you. You ask Him not to forget you. He who knows the hearts of men does not ask questions to be informed; He asks to make us more familiar, to impart greater boldness, and to show that we are worthy to hear Him. The very cry, “Do not forget me, Jesus,” is met by a Lord who allows these trials to draw you nearer, to calm your mind disturbed with shame and anxiety, and to give you confidence. For whether we be afflicted, it is for comfort and salvation, which works in the patient enduring of the same sufferings. And our hope for you is steadfast.

As for the weight you feel laid upon you and your child, hear the promise given to those who have rightly performed all the duties of faith. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say unto this mountain, Remove, and it shall remove. And nothing shall be impossible to you. This is not merely a promise to move earth and stone, but to move far greater things: the removal of death from a soul, the lifting of a curse, the breaking of generational wounds. The saints did far greater things, raising up innumerable dead. That same power is set before you through prayer and faith, not for the destruction of your enemy, but for the raising up of his household and for your own sure confidence.

You have been wounded deeply, and the rejection you experienced because you belong to Jesus has left a mark. It is right to pour that pain out before Him, because He knows exactly what it means to be despised and rejected. He walked that path before you. He took the scorn, the loneliness, the injustice without ever deserving it, and He carried it all the way to the cross. Every tear you have cried, He has already felt in His own body. You are not forgotten.

But I want you to consider something about the weight you are carrying. You long for that man to feel shame and remorse, and that desire is understandable. Yet that longing can become a heavy load that God never asked you to bear. Many people go around talking about a great burden the Lord supposedly laid on them, but Jesus Himself declared that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. When we cling to bitterness or fixate on what others have taken from us, we take up a burden that God did not give us. It wears us down and steals our peace. So do not mistake that crushing weight for something from Him. Release it. Hand the whole matter over to the only Judge who sees everything perfectly and decides what each person will reap.

Pray for your enemies, yes. Ask for their salvation. That is a prayer God honors. Interceding for the children in that family is a beautiful act of mercy. Let your request be that they would come to know the Lord and walk in His ways, and trust Him with the rest. He promises that His salvation will not tarry, and that He can bring good out of what was meant for evil.

Let your heart rest in this: Christ was not only despised and rejected; He was also highly exalted. Because you are in Him, your story does not end in shame. The weight you have been carrying can be laid down at His feet. Come to Him with all of it, and He will give you rest. Then, instead of rehearsing the injury, you can be free to teach your own child, and anyone who asks, about the faithfulness of God who delivered you.
