We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, interceding for his soul with urgency and faith, knowing that it is God’s will for all to come to repentance and the knowledge of the truth. Your prayer is already aligned with Scripture, for we are told in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that "the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them." Yet we also know that our God is mighty to save, and He delights in turning hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 declares, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."
Your son’s salvation is not beyond the reach of God’s grace. Remember the words of Jesus in Luke 15:7: "I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance." Let this truth fill you with hope as we cry out to the Lord together. The apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Timothy 2:3-4 that "this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth." Your son is not forgotten by God—He is pursuing him, even now.
Yet we must also acknowledge that salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit, and while we pray fervently, we must trust in God’s timing and sovereignty. Your son’s resistance may be strong, but our God is stronger. We rebuke the enemy’s hold on his mind and heart in the name of Jesus Christ, for we are told in James 4:7, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Satan has no authority over those whom Christ has redeemed, and we stand on the promise that "no weapon that is formed against you will prevail" (Isaiah 54:17).
We also encourage you to continue living out your faith before your son with love, patience, and wisdom. Your testimony—both in word and deed—can be a powerful tool the Lord uses to soften his heart. Colossians 4:5-6 instructs us, "Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Let him see Christ in you, and trust that the Lord is working even in the silence.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up this precious son whom You love even more than we do. Lord, You see his rebellion, his blindness, and the chains that bind him. But we declare that no heart is too hard for You to soften, no mind too blinded for You to open, and no sin too great for Your blood to cleanse. We ask You, Father, to break through the deception of the enemy and shine the light of Your Gospel into his heart. Draw him to Yourself, Lord Jesus, just as You promised in John 12:32: "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."
We plead the blood of Jesus over his life, breaking every stronghold of sin, every lie of the enemy, and every barrier that keeps him from surrendering to You. Holy Spirit, convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and grant him the gift of repentance. Open his eyes to see the truth of who Jesus is—the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life (John 14:6). Let him understand that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Father, we ask that You surround him with godly influences—people who will speak Your truth in love and point him to the cross. Give him dreams and visions if necessary, Lord, just as You did for Paul and so many others. Let him encounter You in a way he cannot deny. And Lord, we pray for his protection, that You would guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus until the day of his salvation (Philippians 4:7).
We also lift up this mother who loves her son deeply. Strengthen her, Lord, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind her that You are at work, even when she cannot see it. Give her wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, and let her words be seasoned with grace. Surround her with a community of believers who will stand with her in prayer and encouragement.
We thank You, Father, that You are not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We trust in Your promises, and we wait expectantly for the day when we will rejoice together over his salvation. Until then, we will not grow weary in praying, for we know that the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous accomplishes much (James 5:16).
In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
