Prayer

Beloved of All
Thank you so much for your prayers for my brother — I can really see they are working. He lives with very serious mental illness, which makes him controlling and often delusional. For a long time he was obsessed with a reckless idea of moving to ### and making a dangerous ‘investment,’ but lately he has been having second thoughts. I believe this is God softening his heart and protecting our family. Please continue to pray for his mental health, for peace in our home, and for protection over my mom and me as we carry this heavy burden. Your prayers mean more than I can say. In Jesus Christ please heal his mental health and help my mom to cope.

We rejoice with you in seeing God’s hand at work in your brother’s life! It is a testament to His faithfulness when we witness hearts being softened and dangerous paths being reconsidered. The Lord is indeed protecting your family, and we give Him all the glory for His mercy. Your gratitude for prayer is a beautiful reflection of a heart that recognizes God’s sovereignty, and we are honored to stand with you in continued intercession.

The burden of mental illness is heavy, not only for the one afflicted but for those who love and care for them. The enemy seeks to bring confusion, fear, and division, but we know that our God is the Prince of Peace, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and sets captives free. Your brother’s struggles with controlling behavior and delusions are not beyond the reach of Christ’s healing power. While we pray for his mind to be renewed and restored, we also ask the Lord to guard your mother and you from weariness, discouragement, or resentment. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9, *"He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."* Even in this trial, God’s strength is perfected in your family’s dependence on Him.

We also lift up your mother, who carries a weight that can feel overwhelming. May the Lord grant her supernatural endurance, wisdom, and a deep sense of His presence. Let her find rest in Psalm 55:22, *"Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved."* And may you both be encouraged by Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."*

As for your brother’s past obsession with reckless decisions, we praise God for the conviction He has brought. Proverbs 16:9 tells us, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps."* We pray that the Lord would continue to redirect your brother’s steps away from danger and toward His perfect will. May any lingering delusions or unhealthy fixations be broken in the name of Jesus, and may truth and clarity flood his mind. If there are spiritual strongholds at work—whether fear, pride, or deception—we command them to be torn down by the power of Christ, who has already triumphed over every power of darkness (Colossians 2:15).

We also urge you to remain vigilant in prayer for your own spiritual protection. Caring for someone with mental illness can leave little room for self-care, but you must not neglect your own walk with the Lord. Stay rooted in His Word, surround yourselves with a community of believers who can offer support, and do not hesitate to seek godly counsel if needed. Remember, you are not called to carry this alone—Jesus invites you to come to Him with your weariness (Matthew 11:28).

Finally, we declare over your home the peace that only Christ can give. May your household be a place where love, patience, and grace abound, even in the midst of difficulty. Let the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—be evident in your interactions (Galatians 5:22-23). And may your brother, in time, come to know the fullness of God’s healing, whether through medical intervention, divine intervention, or both. The Lord is not limited in how He works, and we trust Him to bring restoration in His perfect timing.

**Let us pray:**

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the ways You are already moving in this family. Lord, You see the depths of their struggles—the mental anguish, the fear, the exhaustion—and You are not distant from their pain. We ask for Your healing hand to rest upon this brother, whose mind has been afflicted by illness and confusion. Touch him, Lord, as only You can. Rewire his thoughts, calm his anxieties, and deliver him from any delusions or compulsions that seek to harm him or those he loves. Break every chain of the enemy that seeks to bind him, and fill him with Your truth and peace.

We pray for this mother and sister, who have borne so much. Strengthen them, Lord, when they feel weak. Comfort them when they feel overwhelmed. Remind them that they are seen, loved, and sustained by You. Give them wisdom to know how to respond in each moment—whether with firmness, gentleness, or silence—and grant them the grace to forgive when words or actions wound. Protect their hearts from bitterness and their minds from despair. Surround them with Your angels, and let them feel the embrace of Your presence daily.

Father, we ask for Your protection over this home. Let it be a sanctuary where Your peace reigns, even in the storm. Guard their finances, their health, and their relationships from the schemes of the enemy. If there are any open doors to spiritual attack—through fear, unresolved sin, or ungodly influences—we ask that You seal them shut by the blood of Jesus. Let no weapon formed against this family prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord, we also pray for godly wisdom in practical matters. If there are medical treatments, therapies, or support systems that could aid in this brother’s recovery, reveal them clearly. Guide this family to the right resources and the right people who can walk alongside them. And if there are areas where they need to set boundaries for their own well-being, give them the courage to do so in love.

Most of all, Father, we ask that You would draw this brother—and this entire family—closer to Yourself. Let this trial be a refining fire that purifies their faith and deepens their trust in You. May they know, beyond any doubt, that You are their Provider, their Healer, and their Peace.

We declare all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has conquered sin, sickness, and death. May Your will be done, and may Your kingdom come in this family’s life. Amen.

We're right there with you, dear friend, standing in the gap and lifting your family up in prayer. It's such a relief to see your brother's heart softening, and we join you in praising God for His faithfulness. We're also reminded of Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We claim this promise over your brother, your mom, and you.

We're praying for God's healing power to touch your brother's mind, renewing and restoring it. We ask that any lingering delusions or unhealthy fixations be broken, and that truth and clarity flood his thoughts. We also pray for peace in your home, that it would be a sanctuary where love, patience, and grace abound, even in the midst of difficulty.

For your mom, we pray for supernatural endurance, wisdom, and a deep sense of God's presence. We also pray that any spiritual strongholds at work in your brother's life would be torn down by the power of Christ, who has already triumphed over every power of darkness. We command them to be broken in Jesus' name.
