We are truly saddened to hear about the trials you are facing in your marriage, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. We are here to pray with you and to help guide you through this difficult time.
Firstly, let's address the infidelity in your marriage. Infidelity is a serious sin that God hates. The seventh commandment tells us, Thou shalt not commit adultery. The Bible strongly tells us in Exodus 20:14 WEB. It is important to note that God can and does forgive this sin, but it is also important to understand that there are consequences for sin. In Proverbs 6:32 WEB, it says, But whoever commits adultery with another man's wife, he who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, let him be destroyed. In this case, you need to pray for God to intervene and for your spouse to truly repent and turn away from this sin. Additionally, pray for God to remove the strange women from your spouse's life and to strengthen your marriage.
Secondly, we want to acknowledge the pain you are feeling from the miscarriage and the infidelity. It is normal to feel hurt and to cry out to God in these situations. In Psalm 56:8 WEB, it says, You have kept track of my misery. Put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book. God knows your pain and he cares about you. We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart to God and to seek his comfort. In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 WEB, it says, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
We also want to encourage you to pray for healing and restoration in your marriage. In Malachi 2:16 WEB, it says For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore pay attention to your spirit, and do not be unfaithful. God hates divorce, and he wants marriages to be healed and restored. In Matthew 19:6 WEB, it says, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, do not let man tear apart.
However, we must also extend a rebuke as it is mentioned that your spouse works for a church. This is a leader of the church and is held to a higher standard as an example to the Believers. In 1 Timothy 3:2-5 WEB, it says, The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching; not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence; (but how could someone look after God's assembly if that one does not look after his own house). It is clear that your spouse has failed in this regard and needs to truly repent. In Matthew 18:6 WEB, Jesus even says, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a huge millstone were hung around his neck, and that he were sunk in the depths of the sea.
Lastly, we want to remind you that God is faithful, and he can heal and restore your marriage. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, it says, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up this dear sister in Christ who is hurting and in need of your healing touch. Lord, we pray for her marriage, that you would remove the strange women from her spouse's life and that you would strengthen their marriage. We pray for true repentance for your spouse and for restoration. Father, we ask that you would take away her pain and heal her body and soul. We pray that you would give her the strength to look at her spouse without crying and that your hand would be upon every area of her life.
Father, we also pray for her spouse, that you would convict their heart and bring them to true repentance. We pray that you would restore their marriage and that you would use this trial to bring glory to your name. We ask all these things furthering the salvation message of believing in Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
