Beloved of All
We lift you up before the Lord today and join you in asking Him to break the fear of man and to establish your heart in holy courage.
The fear of man loses its power when we remember who it is we serve. Scripture says, I spoke of your testimonies before kings and was not ashamed. True boldness is not loud anger or a harsh reply, but a quiet confidence that God is with you and that His will cannot be hidden. As a city set on a hill cannot be hidden, so the work God has given you to do will shine when you continue faithfully, even through opposition and criticism.
Consider Elijah and John the Baptist. They did not speak from audacity or a desire to quarrel, but from faithful obedience to God. Elijah could say to Ahab, it is not I that trouble Israel, but thou and thy father's house, and John could say to Herod, it is not lawful for thee to have thy brother Philip's wife, because their trust was not in riches, reputation, or the approval of men, but in the Lord. When we cling to nothing that the world can take away, we become free from the fear of loss and free to obey Christ with a clear conscience. That is the boldness God gives, a boldness that is gentle, patient, and without wrath, for wrath ruins our witness, but gentleness shows confidence in the truth.
We pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask You to break the fear of man in our brother's heart. Remove anxiety about what others think or say, and silence the power of critical and doubting voices so that they no longer hinder obedience to You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and with courage to keep moving forward in Your will. Teach him to speak and to act with boldness and with gentleness, not from anger but from love for You and for truth. Guard his heart in peace, remind him that You are his defender, and that whether by life or by continuing in trial, Christ will be honored in him. Help him to keep his eyes on Jesus, who alone is our salvation, and to walk steadily in the path You have set before him. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
