We rejoice with you in this desire to spend more time with Jesus, for this is the very heart of what God calls us to. We hear your longing to draw closer to Him and we join together with you in seeking His presence more deeply.

The Scripture tells us to seek the Lord and His strength, seek His face always in Psalm 105:4 and when you seek me, you will find me, when you search for me with all your heart in Jeremiah 29:13. The Lord honors a heart that wants to be near Him, and He promises draw near to God, and he will draw near to you in James 4:8. Jesus Himself invites us to remain in Him, saying remain in me, and I in you in John 15:4, and to seek first Gods Kingdom and his righteousness in Matthew 6:33.

We understand how busy life can become and how distractions can pull us away from quiet time with the Lord. We encourage you to set apart intentional time each day to be with Him, even if it begins with a few minutes in the morning or evening. Enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret in Matthew 6:6. Spend that time in prayer, in reading His Word, and in simply being still before Him, for He says be still, and know that I am God in Psalm 46:10. Like Mary who sat at the Lords feet and heard his word in Luke 10:39, choose the good part that will not be taken away.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for placing this holy hunger in this heart to spend more time with Your Son. We ask that You stir a deeper love for Jesus and a desire for Your Word that grows each day. Help us to redeem the time and to make our relationship with You our first priority above all else. Give us discipline to rise and seek You early, to turn aside from distractions and noise, and to find joy in Your presence. Teach us to pray without ceasing and to meditate on Your Word day and night, that we may know You more and be transformed to be like Christ. Draw us close and keep us abiding in You, bearing fruit for Your glory. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and lead us into a closer walk with Jesus every day. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to keep a simple plan, perhaps a daily reading in the Gospels, a prayer journal, and worship, and to ask the Lord each morning to order your steps so that time with Him is protected. He is faithful and He delights when we come to Him, and He will surely meet you as you seek Him with all your heart.

We appreciate you sharing this longing to be closer to Jesus. That desire itself is a good place to start, and we are praying with you as you make room for Him.

One thing that has helped many of us is remembering that growing closer to Jesus is more like training than trying to make a big leap at once. It happens gradually over time, with ups and downs, and it looks a little different for each person. The core ways we grow tend to stay the same, spending thoughtful time in the Bible, talking honestly with God in prayer, and worshiping with other believers, all depending on the Holy Spirit to actually bring the growth. But how that fits into your day will be unique to you.

A simple next step that often helps is to choose one small, sustainable rhythm rather than trying to overhaul everything. For example, pick a consistent time and place you can keep, even for ten or fifteen minutes, to read a short passage and pray. Some find it helps to do this first thing in the morning, others during a lunch break or before bed. Meeting with a small group or a trusted friend for prayer and study can also help keep it steady.

We are grateful for your heart to seek Him and we are with you in this.

Father, thank You for drawing this heart toward Jesus. Help them find quiet, consistent time with You, to hear Your voice in Your Word and to know Your nearness in prayer. Give them grace for the process and steady joy as they walk with Christ day by day. In Jesus name, amen.

There is a blessed importance in your desire to spend more time with Jesus, for to feast with Him is to find strength for every battle and comfort for every weariness. The Lord Jesus says still, Come and break your fast, and He spreads the same simple and sustaining food with which He always fed His people. He does not like to see His servants cold and hungry, and He invites you to come to Him at once, not as one who has some good thing in himself, but as a sinner coming anew to the fountain of life.

Real contact with Jesus is not mere outward hearing or mechanical religion, but an inward touching of His blessed Person, from which a stream of life and love flows to the soul. Deep waters are still, and the soul that truly touches Him finds doubts fleeing away. You may come to Him with your hard questions, your hard doubts and your burdens, for there is no burden too heavy and no question too hard for Him to answer. He who alone can make a man just with God says, Follow Me, and Come and see, and those who came and saw where He dwelt and abode with Him that day found it the best day they had ever enjoyed, and the beginning of better days, for having once lived with Jesus they learned never to live without Him.

To die daily is to hold this world with a loose hand and to test our hope each day, falling upon the Cross and resting there, taking Jesus to be everything that the law and conscience require. And to live daily is to know that He daily loadeth us with benefits, not only on bright days but on dark days, whether in health or in sickness, and therefore to say, Every day will I bless Thee.

Here is a prayer you may use before the Lord:

O Lord Jesus Christ, who alone art the way of salvation, I thank Thee that Thou invitest me to come and break my fast with Thee. Forgive my coldness and my wandering, and draw me into real contact with Thyself. I come to Thee as a sinner, with nothing of my own to bring, and I rest upon Thy finished work upon the Cross. Teach me to hold the things of this world with a loose hand and to seek Thee first. Help me to consult Thee with every burden and every hard question, to hear Thy voice saying Come and see, and to abide with Thee this day. Daily load me with Thy benefits and cause my heart daily to bless Thy name. Make my time with Thee my greatest joy, that I may live with Thee here and reign with Thee hereafter. Amen.

May the Lord make this prayer the language of your heart each morning, that you may study His Holy Book, pour out your soul in devotion, and walk in fellowship with Him through all the hours of the day.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to spend more time with Jesus is a good and holy longing, and God delights to answer it. To make room for Him is to deck the house of your heart with prayer, with attention to His word, with quiet vigilance and with love toward others, so that Christ may dwell there as King.

Here is a prayer you may use and adapt as your own:

Lord Jesus Christ, draw my heart to Yourself. Forgive me for the hours I have given to lesser things and awaken in me a deeper hunger for Your presence. Help me to set apart time each day to meet with You in prayer and in Your word, not out of duty alone but out of love. Quiet my distractions, guard my thoughts, and teach me to listen to Your voice. Let my life be shaped by Your grace so that I walk more closely with You today than yesterday, and abide in You always. In Your name I pray, Amen.

If you wish, you can set a simple pattern to keep this desire alive, a short time each morning and evening for Scripture and prayer, and brief prayers through the day as you work. God will honor the time you give to Him and will give you more love for it.
