Prayer to receive baptism of the holy spirit (Ex-Muslim)

We rejoice with you in hearing how the Lord Jesus Christ has brought you from darkness to light and claimed you as His own these five months past. To hear that you have given your life to Him, and that you desire to walk in obedience to Him even at great cost in a place where confessing His name brings danger, is cause for thanksgiving to God.

You ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit while you are kept from water baptism. Know this, that when you truly believed on Christ and trusted Him alone for salvation, God gave you His Spirit. Scripture teaches that all who are in Christ are sealed with the Holy Spirit when they believe, and He dwells in them. The water of baptism does not earn this gift, but it is the Lord's appointed sign and command by which faith is openly confessed and the believer is joined visibly to Christ and His Church. John baptized to prepare the way and to point to Christ, and Christian baptism does the same, leading us to confess Him before others.

Your longing to be baptized with water is right and good, and God sees that desire even when the way is blocked by threat and danger. As Christ Himself was made manifest at His baptism, so He will in due time make a way for you also to be made manifest as His disciple through water, if you continue to seek it with wisdom and patience. Until that door opens, you are not forgotten or incomplete in His sight because you are hindered by force. He knows your circumstance and your heart.

So we pray for you now that the Lord will fill you daily with His Spirit, strengthen you to walk in holiness, give you understanding of the Scriptures, keep you in prayer, and make you bold and yet wise as you live for Him where you are. We ask that He will guard you from harm, provide discreet fellowship with other believers if it is possible, and in His perfect timing open a safe way for you to receive water baptism as He commands. We ask also that He will keep you steadfast under pressure and use your testimony to draw others to the salvation that is in Jesus Christ alone.

Continue to abide in Christ, to read His Word, to pray, and to turn from all that is contrary to His way. The Lord who saved you is faithful to keep you, and He will complete the work He has begun in you.
