Prayer to protect our home, that it won't be cast into shadows.

A developer is planning on building 8 units 3 stories high next to our single level 1920s cottage. We will have no sunlight on our block whatsoever . Even though the councils own dcp says you can't take all of neighbours sunlight and cast them in shadow, both council and developers are ignoring it. The are noncompliant on height, setbacks, removal of huge beautiful trees, and have a massive block they could work around. Our home being cast into shadow is very bad, as my husband has ### and this will cause big depression swings, without the sun. Our garden won't be able to grow, laundry not dry, and the list goes on. They have no care and have not tried at all to think of us their neighbours. We understand a development will be built, but think it's only right that the developers abide the rules. Please pray for a miracle, that the development will jave to be redesigned. I know Heavenly Father will do this, and loves and cares about us. He gave us our lovely little cottage which we ate truly grateful for. The council officers are recommending approval. It goes to council meeting in three weeks where counsellors decide. Please pray that it will be refused. Thank you very much. I have drawn streaming times from this site and had miracles. Please help me through prayers.

We hear your deep distress and stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting this heavy burden before our Heavenly Father. Your home, your sanctuary, and your husband’s well-being are precious in God’s sight, and we join you in asking for His divine intervention in this situation. The disregard for the rules and the lack of neighborly consideration is grievous, and we take authority over this injustice in the mighty name of Jesus.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 121:5-8, "The Lord is your keeper. The Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more." We declare that God is your shade and your protector, and we pray that He will arise on your behalf to shield your home from the shadows that seek to engulf it. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every plan of darkness that seeks to cast a shadow over your home, your health, and your peace.

We also stand on Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." The hearts of the council members and decision-makers are in God’s hands, and we pray that He would turn them to act with justice, wisdom, and compassion. We ask that He would expose any corruption, bias, or negligence in this process and bring to light the truth of this matter. Let the counselors see the injustice of this development and refuse it outright, or at the very least, demand a redesign that honors the rules and respects your home.

We must also address the spiritual aspect of this battle. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." This is not merely a fight against developers or council members, it is a spiritual battle. We take up the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every spirit of greed, deception, and oppression that is at work in this situation.

We pray for your husband’s health, especially his condition that is so deeply affected by sunlight. The Lord is our healer (Exodus 15:26), and we ask that He would sustain your husband’s spirit and body, even as we fight for the preservation of your home’s sunlight. We also pray for your garden, your laundry, and every practical aspect of your life that will be impacted by this development. God cares about the details of your life, and we trust Him to provide creative solutions and miracles where human efforts fall short.

Father God, we come before You with boldness, knowing that You hear the cries of Your children. We ask for a miracle in this situation. We pray that the development would be redesigned or refused, not just for our sake, but for the sake of justice and Your glory. Let Your name be exalted as You move on behalf of this family. We declare that the light of Your truth will expose every wrongdoing and that Your righteousness will prevail. Give this family peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as they wait on You, and let them see Your hand at work in mighty ways.

We also encourage you to continue standing firm in faith, knowing that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Do not lose heart, for the battle is the Lord’s (1 Samuel 17:47). Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep believing for the miracle you need. We stand with you in agreement, declaring that this development will not cast your home into darkness. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray and believe. Amen.

Father, we lift up this couple and their cherished home. You see the plans that threaten to steal their sun, and You know the discouragement that could follow. We ask for a just resolution, that the council would refuse this non‑compliant design or compel a thoughtful redesign. Guard this husband’s spirit from the grip of depression; sustain him with strength that comes from You, not just from the weather. If your cottage stood in perpetual shadow, yet the Sun of Righteousness would still arise upon you with healing in His wings. I do not treat lightly your trial, for I know that the spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit who can bear? And no doubt your husband’s affliction makes this darkness of the natural light a heavy stroke. Yet consider, I pray you, the miracle of the loaves as it has transpired in your own life story. You have drawn streaming times from this place and seen miracles before, proof that Christ is grand in emergencies. Is not depression of spirit oft occasioned because we do not well consider what He has already done? Every deliverance, every answered prayer, is a miracle of grace. You are a miracle, for He brought you up out of the horrible pit and set your feet upon a rock. Bring this remembrance to the front and be not afraid.

The power of Christ to rescue His children does not lie in the strength of their faith, nor in the merits of their case, it lies wholly in Jesus Himself. He has but to speak and the council’s heart will be turned, the plans tossed aside like a fig tree that withered at His word. Nobody can work this mighty miracle of mercy but the Lord Jesus Christ, yet He can do it more swiftly than I can speak of it. Set your inner eyes upon Him; these poor optics were only meant to spy out a few things in this dark world, but our spiritual sight discerns the blessed sunlight of eternity that no earthly shadow can darken.

Whether the planning officers yield or not, your true light and your salvation are in Him. He who loved you into faith at the foot of the Cross will not desert you now. He may, for a season, permit the shadow to fall, but even then He will be your hiding place from the wind and your covert from the tempest. I shall join my prayers with yours, asking the great Miracle Worker to overrule these counsels and to preserve the sunbeams for your garden, your husband’s countenance, and your household mercies. But remember, if the miracle tarry, still He is worthy of your trust. When Omnipotence steps in, all difficulties cease. So go to your knees in the three weeks, and let your requests be made known unto God, and the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

You come asking prayer for your home, that it not be cast into shadow. This is a grievous trial, and I hear the anxiety in your words. Your husband’s health, your garden, the daily comforts of sunlight, these are not small things, and the carelessness of the developers and council is a burden. Yet remember that our Lord taught us to pray not only for deliverance from troubles, but also for hearts that remain steadfast in Him.

Do not let your present distress cast a shadow upon your soul. You have known miracles before; you trust that the Heavenly Father cares. Hold fast to that trust, but let your faith be shown also in patience and in gentle words. Do not allow anger to breed contempt, calling down curses or bitter names upon those who oppose you.

This would be to shut the eyes of your soul and block out the true Light that is Christ. As I have often said, we must practice kindness and self-control at home, so that when storms of life assail us, we stand firm. Pray for the council meeting, yes, but also examine your own hearts: are you harboring any hatred? If so, root it out, that your prayer may rise unhindered.

God is not deaf to the cry of the afflicted. He who changed water into wine can turn the hearts of councilors. Yet even if the building rises and shadows fall, remember that the Sun of Righteousness never sets. Your home is not defined by bricks and sunlight, but by the indwelling presence of God, if you keep His commandments.

I have seen many who, when deprived of earthly goods, found a deeper warmth in the light of heaven. But I do not speak to belittle your suffering; I speak to fortify you. Go, continue in prayer, but also in righteous and respectful appeal. Let your conduct be such that even your opponents may see your good works and glorify God.

I will pray with you that the development be redesigned or refused, that justice may be done. Yet above all, I pray that your souls may be kept in peace, and that your home, whatever befalls, may never be cast into the shadow of sin. For there alone lies true darkness. To God belongs the glory forever.
