Prayer to exit out of survival mode

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I could do with some prayer as experienced some deep level betrayal by Jezebelic in law and want to come out of survival mode, and start being productive toward goals and vision, but even simple tasks can be a challenge at times. I feel similar to what Joseph went through in the scripture being thrown in the pit (that is how deep the betrayal has been and what has been done can not be reversed), but I know I am coming out of the pit.

We hear the depth of your pain and we join with you in prayer as you seek to come out of this survival mode after such deep betrayal. To be wounded by family, and especially by an in-law who has operated with a controlling and manipulative spirit, cuts very deeply and can leave the nervous system and the soul in a constant state of alertness where even simple tasks feel overwhelming. The Lord sees what has been done to you and He does not minimize it. We are reminded of Joseph who was betrayed by those closest to him and thrown into a pit through no fault of his own, yet God was with him in the pit and lifted him out in His time and for His purpose.

We take comfort in what Scripture says about God's nearness in such seasons. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 40:2 says He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. And concerning Joseph, Genesis 50:20 says As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is today, to save many people alive. What was done to you cannot be reversed, but God is able to redeem what was meant for harm and to use even this pit to shape your future, your vision and your calling. Romans 8:28 reminds us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Jeremiah 29:11 declares For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We also gently notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true healing and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for in His name we find not only forgiveness but the peace and power to come out of survival mode.

We rebuke the spirit of control, manipulation and intimidation that has operated through this betrayal, and we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that keeps you in survival mode. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7. We also rebuke any lie that you will remain in the pit or that your future is defined by what was done to you.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one to You. You see the deep wound of betrayal and the exhaustion of living in survival mode. We ask You to heal the broken heart and bind up every wound. Bring Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:6-7. Lift our friend out of the pit and set feet upon the rock, restore strength for each day, and renew the mind. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We ask You to do this now. Give grace for simple daily tasks, restore productivity step by step, and breathe fresh vision and purpose for the goals You have placed on this heart. Help to forgive as You have forgiven us, not excusing what was wrong, but releasing bitterness so that healing can come fully. Lead to safe and godly community and wise counsel for support. We ask that You redeem what cannot be reversed and turn it for good, and that Your will be done in this life for Your glory. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to walk out of survival mode with small faithful steps, leaning daily on the Lord. Seek Him in prayer and in the Word each morning, even for a few minutes, cast every anxiety on Him, rest when you need to rest without condemnation, and take one small task at a time trusting that His grace is sufficient. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Stay connected to a Bible believing fellowship where you can be encouraged and prayed for, and consider godly counsel to help process the trauma. God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you and He will bring you out of the pit into a firm place to stand, to bear fruit for His glory.

We have been praying for you as you shared this. To be betrayed by family cuts especially deep, and it makes sense you would feel thrown into a pit with no easy way to undo what was done. Thank you for naming both the pain and the hope that you are coming out.

When we have lived in survival mode for a while, even simple tasks can feel heavy. Our attention stays on guard for the next hurt, so there is little energy left for the goals and vision we care about. That does not mean you are failing. It often means your heart and mind have been carrying a lot for a long time and need time and support to steady.

One gentle step that helps many people moving out of that place is to choose one small, doable anchor for each day, one task tied to your vision that you can complete even on a hard day, and let that be enough while you rebuild rhythm. It can also help to walk with one trusted person, a pastor, counselor or mature friend, who can check in weekly as you take those steps. If the sense of being on guard stays strong, talking with a pastor or Christian counselor in person can be a helpful next support alongside prayer.

Father, we bring this dear friend before You. You see the wound of this betrayal and the weariness of staying on guard. Give rest, clear guidance for each next step, and strength to keep moving toward the good work You have for them. Lift them from the pit in Your time and lead them forward with peace. In Jesus name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your cry has been heard and it is well that you have brought it to the throne of grace, for there alone is healing for the wounded spirit.

You speak of deep betrayal and of being cast into a pit as Joseph was, and of that which has been done and cannot be reversed. Know then that our Lord Jesus Himself entered into the darkness of betrayal. Scripture was fulfilled in His betrayal, sin was made to show its blackest hue, and atonement was completed, and by that path our great High Priest became able to sympathize with us in every point. He was betrayed by one of His own familiar friends, that we might not think it strange when treachery finds us even among those nearest to us, and that we might flee to One who knows the sting of such a wound. He knows what it is to be thrown into the pit by those who should have loved Him, and He lives to lift out those who are cast down.

You desire to come out of survival mode and to be productive again toward goals and vision, yet even simple tasks are a burden. This is no strange thing to Him who heals the broken hearted. There are several forms of a broken heart, and one is when the purpose on which we have set our minds is dashed and we find our strength spent. The Lord does not ask you to serve while you are yet lying sick of a fever. Healing must come before serving. As it was with Peter's wife's mother, so it is with you. She lay prostrated by the malady, but He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and then she arose and ministered. There must be a contact established between your soul and Christ, and His touch must precede your labour. Do not chide yourself that you cannot yet run. Seek first His healing hand.

For there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His name, His Word, His lightest touch, these healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. And healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises upon them with healing in His wings.

So we will pray for you now to that same Lord.

O Lord our God, who binds up the broken hearted and heals their wounds, look upon this Thy servant who has been sorely wounded by betrayal and cast into a pit. Thou hast seen the deep hurt and the survival fear that clings to the soul, making even small duties to seem heavy. Come Thou with pardon and with healing, for Thou alone canst truly heal. Forgive all sin, and speak peace to the conscience through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation. Spread Thy healing leaves over this wounded heart and let their virtue enter into the spirit. Take this dear one by the hand as Thou didst take Peter's wife's mother, and lift up from the place of lying down. Give quietness to the troubled thoughts, give strength for each simple task as it comes, and in Thy time restore vision and fruitful labour. Teach the feet to hear Thy Word with heed, for faith comes by hearing, and let the gentler light of Calvary be balm rather than wound. Bring up out of the pit as Thou didst bring Joseph, and turn what was meant for evil to Thy good purpose. Keep this soul near to Thyself till survival gives way to trust, and weakness gives way to service that arises out of healing. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and healer. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest sharing about this deep betrayal has been received with care and prayer. To be thrown into a pit by those close to you is a wound that goes very deep, and it is understandable that even simple tasks now feel heavy and that your mind and body have stayed in survival mode.

Scripture does not hide this kind of pain. Joseph was cast into a pit by his own, and our Lord himself was betrayed by one of the twelve, with a kiss, coming with swords and staves. He knew beforehand what would happen and yet he went to meet it, not out of weakness but according to the secret and eternal purpose of God. What others meant for evil, God is able to weave into his good purpose, and he does not leave his people in the pit.

You said that what was done cannot be reversed, and that is often true in this life. Yet the Lord is the one who has gone up on high and led captivity captive, who preaches deliverance to captives and recovery to those who have been wounded. When we bear losses thankfully and keep turning to him, he restores, and even if what was lost on earth is not fully returned, the reward he gives is greater. Your desire to come out of survival mode and to be productive again toward the vision God has given you is itself a sign of his grace at work, and if you have a mind to shake off weariness and recover yourself, it is not in vain.

He is patient with you in this season. Do not despise small steps. Faithfulness in simple tasks, rest, prayer, wise boundaries with your in law, and daily bread from his Word are ways he steadies a shaken heart. He will give strength for today and purpose for tomorrow.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we thank you that you see this dear one in the pit and that you are the one who lifts out. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only hope of salvation, that you would bring healing from this betrayal, quiet the spirit of fear and survival mode, and renew mind and body with your peace. Give strength for each simple task, clear vision for the goals you have planted, and daily grace to walk forward. Guard the heart from bitterness, teach wise and loving boundaries, and let this trial become a testimony of your deliverance. Lead forward step by step according to your eternal purpose, and receive all glory. Amen.
