Disciple of Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Good morning. If I have learned anything from the many hours of church when I was a child, it is patience. Loving patience to come and sit in Your house and be still and listen, even when I was too small or didn't have enough experience to understand your words. Now, as an adult, I sit with patience, and I listen to You speak at the center of my heart, the pulse of my being, and you say "be still. Wait for me to do my work. You will be amazed. And it will fill your soul with song. It will confound your mind with wonder and mystery as it all unfolds. You are my child and I love you, even when you aren't loving to me. Even when you are willful or lost. Even when you refuse to call my name and ask me for help. Even when you run away. Even when you return, broken and afraid. I love you and you are mine and I promise you shall be filled with joy and you and your son are safe and protected. Be not afraid. I go before you always and I will give you rest."
I believe in this inner locution. I believe the best thing for myself and my son is unfolding and that my desire to possess will fade and only a desire to love will remain. And if all I long to do is love my son, God will provide.
I am so grateful for everyone who is praying with me and I am in awe of your great power to ensure that I never feel alone. Today I offer my suffering and sadness and I ask for peace for my own prayers and for all the people who pray desperately for their heart's desire. Grant us the peace that comes from laying our troubles at Your feet, dear Jesus.
Amen.
