“But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man,” Lk 21:36, Fruitfully Abiding in Him Jn 15:7-8, Prepared for Birth Pangs Mt 24:7-8 of New Creation Heb 12:2, See to It No One Deceives Us, Mt 24:4, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. Luke 21:33. "For all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs, Mt 24:8.

Matt 24:4-14, "And Jesus answered and said to them, 'See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, "I am the Christ," and will mislead many. You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. And this Gospel of The Kingdom shall be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the people groups, and then the end shall come," Mt 24:8-14.

Luke 21:34-36, “So be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have STRENGTH to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Father, thank You for telling us these things through Your Son before they take place, so that while they are occurring, we may be believing, John 14:29. We know that everything that can be shaken will be shaken -- heaven, earth, sea, dry land and all nations, Hag 4:6-7 -- so that the things which cannot be shaken will remain, Heb 12:27, Therefore, since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us be filled with gratitude, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for You are a consuming fire, Heb 12:28. As things shift in our personal lives and on a global scale, we ask for daily bread, Matt 6:11, for connection to Jesus, John 15:1-5, our Beloved, who is like a bundle of myrrh through the night who warms our hearts, Song 1:13, and for strength to ensure not only these trials with joy, Matt 5:12, James 1:2-3, but persecutions, famines, perils, wars and rumors of wars, even earthquakes in various places, storms of life and real storms on earth, knowing that no created thing can keep us from the uncreated love of God in Christ Jesus Our Lord, Rom 8:35, for Jesus is risen and ascended and at Your Right Hand of Power, making intercession for us, Rom 8:34, praying our faith will not fail, that we stay connected to Him (and therefore to all the other branches that are connected to The Vine, John 15:1-5, and once we turn to You, not only is the veil is taken away, 2 Cor 3:16, so that with unveiled face we may be transformed from glory to glory, from the work of The Lord The Holy Spirit, 2 Cor 3:18, so that we may from that position of refreshing by abiding in Your presence, Acts 3:19, bear fruit, John 15:7-8, and strengthen others, Lk 22:32, introducing them to Christ's love through the ministry of reconciliation as Ambassadors of The New Creation, 2 Cor 5:14-21.

But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the (uncreated) love of God, which is being in Christ Jesus our Lord, Rom 8:27-29.

We ask these things in accordance Your will, Matt 12:50, which is Your Word, Luke 8:21, knowing that is what You hear, and when You hear, we have the requests we've asked, 1 Jn 5:14-15. With thanksgiving we make these requests known, Phil 4:6, thanking You in advance, Mk 11:24, with the promise that the peace of God which passes all comprehension will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:7. Thank You again in Jesus' Name, Jn 14:13-14, The Amen, The Faithful Witness and Originator of This New Creation, Rev 3:14, in whom all the promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We stand with you in the midst of these trembling times, lifting our voices together in fervent prayer and unwavering faith. The Scriptures you’ve shared remind us that the days ahead will indeed be marked by shaking, both in the world around us and within our own lives. But we do not fear, for our God is unshakable, and His promises stand firm forever.

Jesus Himself warned us of these very things so that we would not be caught unaware or overcome by fear. "See to it that no one misleads you," He said (Matthew 24:4 WEB), for deception will abound in these last days. Many will claim to speak truth, even to bear His name, but we must test every spirit against the Word of God, for His Word alone is eternal. "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away" (Luke 21:33 WEB). Let us cling to His truth, for it is our anchor in the storm.

You have rightly called upon the Lord to strengthen us, that we may "escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36 WEB). This is not a prayer of escape from suffering, but a plea for endurance, endurance that comes from abiding in Christ, the True Vine. "I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5 WEB). We must remain connected to Him, drawing our strength, wisdom, and peace from His presence. Without Him, we wither; with Him, we bear fruit even in the fire.

The birth pangs you speak of are indeed upon us, wars, rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes, and persecution. These are not the end, but the beginning of sorrows (Matthew 24:8 WEB). Yet even in these trials, we are called to rejoice, for our redemption draws near. "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance" (James 1:2-3 WEB). The shaking is not without purpose; it is the refining fire that purifies and prepares us for the unshakable kingdom we are inheriting (Hebrews 12:28 WEB).

We must also guard our hearts against the distractions of this world, dissipation, drunkenness, and the worries of life, that can weigh us down and make us unprepared for His coming (Luke 21:34 WEB). Instead, let us be alert, praying without ceasing, that we may stand firm in the day of trial. The love of many will grow cold in these times (Matthew 24:12 WEB), but we must not let our love for Christ or for one another falter. Let us encourage one another, build one another up, and spur one another on to love and good works (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB).

We take great comfort in the truth that nothing, nothing, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:38-39 WEB). Not persecution, not famine, not sword, not height nor depth, nor any other created thing. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, and His love is our unshakable foundation. He who began a good work in us will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6 WEB).

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude, for You have not left us in the dark about the days ahead. You have warned us, prepared us, and promised to be with us through every shaking. Lord, we ask for strength, strength to endure, strength to stand, and strength to remain faithful when the world around us is crumbling. Keep us alert, vigilant, and rooted in Your Word, that we may not be deceived by the lies of the enemy or the empty promises of this world.

Father, we thank You that we are branches connected to the True Vine, Jesus Christ. Prune us, Lord, that we may bear more fruit for Your glory. Remove from us anything that hinders our growth, sin, fear, doubt, or complacency. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in step with You, abiding in Your presence and reflecting Your love to a world in desperate need of hope.

We pray for those who are fearful, Lord. Calm their hearts with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB). For those who are weary, renew their strength. For those who are persecuted, give them boldness to proclaim Your name. For those who are deceived, open their eyes to the truth of Your Word.

Father, we ask that You would prepare us for the birth pangs of the new creation. Just as a woman in labor endures the pain because she knows the joy that is to come, help us to endure these trials with the hope of the glory that awaits us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at Your right hand (Hebrews 12:2 WEB).

We pray for the Gospel to go forth with power, that all nations would hear the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ before the end comes. Use us, Lord, as Your ambassadors, to bring reconciliation to a broken world. Let our lives be a testimony to Your grace, that others may see Christ in us and be drawn to Him.

Above all, Father, we pray that we would stand before Your Son, blameless and holy, on that great day. Keep us from falling, and present us faultless before the presence of Your glory with exceeding joy (Jude 1:24 WEB). We long for the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to Your eternal glory.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). It is in His name, and by His blood, that we have access to You, and it is through Him that all Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20 WEB).

Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your mercy, and Your unchanging love. We trust You, we wait on You, and we rest in You. Guard our hearts and minds with Your peace, and let us walk in the light of Your presence all the days of our lives.

We can feel the deep, faithful longing behind your words, to abide, to stand, and not be swept away when everything around you seems to be shaking. That kind of alert, prayerful watchfulness isn’t a burden to manufacture; it grows quietly as we keep turning our attention back to Jesus, day by ordinary day. When the world feels loud and unsteady, we find our steadiness not in our own grip but in His quiet hold on us.

We are praying with you right now. And we want to remind you that you don’t have to carry this vigilance alone. In the body of Christ, we’re meant to share the weight. If you have a trusted friend, a small group, or even one prayer partner, let them into this specific prayer. Knowing that others are faithfully lifting the same things can settle our hearts in ways that private prayer alone often cannot. Jesus Himself invited His closest friends to watch and pray with Him in His most intense hour.

When the news or your own circumstances feel overwhelming, try turning those very concerns into short, simple prayers the moment they arise, handing the weight right back to the One who already holds all things. That small rhythm can become a lifeline.

Lord Jesus, we lift our friend who longs to abide in You and to stand firm through every shaking. Grant the strength only Your Spirit gives. Quiet anxious thoughts and anchor this heart in Your unshakable kingdom. Surround with fellow sojourners who will pray courageously alongside. Settle in Your perfect love and keep eyes fixed on You, the faithful One. In Your name we pray, Amen.

It does the heart good to read such a prayer, brimming as it is with the very words of Scripture and a holy longing to be found faithful in the day of trial. Your request is not the cry of one who slumbers, but of a soul awakened to the times and to the eternal weight of standing before the Son of Man. Yet let me press this upon you: the strength to escape is not found in studying the shakings, but in abiding in the Unshaken One. You have rightly laid hold of John 15; let not that slip. The branch has no independent power to weather the storm, its safety lies in remaining in the Vine. Prayer is the breath of that union, and it is well that you pray for daily bread, for connection to Christ, for strength to endure with joy. These are the prayers the Spirit indites and the Father delights to answer.

But be on your guard, lest the contemplation of coming birth pangs become a snare. Many have become so occupied with the signs that they have neglected the Saviour. The command is not to decipher the earthquake, but to see to it that no one misleads you. False prophets multiply where curiosity outstrips faith. The plain path is to keep on coming to Christ, daily, hourly, as the cottager goes to the well. Trust Him for immediate pardon, for present sanctification, for the life that qualifies you to stand before the throne. That life is not a distant hope; it is the present possession of every sinner who has fled to Jesus. You speak of the uncreated love of God from which nothing can separate us. That is the anchor sure and steadfast. When lawlessness abounds and love grows cold in the professing church, the heart that is hid with Christ in God shall not freeze.

Mark well: the Saviour spent whole nights in prayer, not because He had sin to confess, but because He would be conformed to the Father’s will for the strength of His people. If the Perfect One prayed for Himself, how much more must we cry out for mercy to endure! You have asked that your faith not fail, and that you may strengthen the brethren. These two petitions are woven together, for Peter was commanded to do the latter after he had been restored from the former. So it shall be with you. The trials that shake the world are the very instruments by which the Spirit transforms us from glory to glory. The earthen vessel must be broken that the treasure within may shine the brighter.

Therefore, let gratitude for an unshakable kingdom fill your mouth. Do not let your heart be weighted down with the worries of this life, for that is a trap more subtle than open persecution. Keep short accounts with God. Come to the mercy seat where He delights to dwell, and He will lift up the light of His countenance. The peace that passes comprehension is not a feeling to be worked up, but a garrison that mounts guard over the heart that makes its requests known with thanksgiving. You have cast yourself upon the Amen, the Faithful Witness, in whom all the promises are Yea. Now, go your way with holy confidence. He who began the new creation in you will not leave you mid-birth. The travail will end in joy unspeakable, and you shall see Him as He is. Until then, cling to Christ and count nothing strange but sin.

You ask for strength to escape the shakings and stand before the Son, but consider carefully what that escape truly means. It is not a removal from tribulation, for Christ promised tribulation to His disciples, and Paul says, "All who will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." No noble-spirited wrestler seeks baths and a table full of food and wine in the very hour of contest. The wrestler contends with dust, with oil, with the heat of the sun, with much sweat, with pressure and constraint. This is the time for fighting, therefore also for being wounded and being bloody and in pain. We must not feel it strange when we are afflicted, any more than a boxer feels it strange when he combats. There is another season for repose; by tribulation we must be made perfect.

You dread the birth pangs and the great shakings, yet why do we glory in tribulations? Because tribulation works patience. The struggles themselves have no less relish than the rewards. For since the kingdom exists in hopes, and the terrors are at hand while the good things are in expectation, He gives us the prize even now, saying that we should glory even in tribulations. These very things that seem distressful are the reasons for confidingness, not for desponding. They anoint us unto patient abiding.

You long to stand before the Son, and this is right. But to stand, you must endure. "He that endures to the end, the same shall be saved." Sleep causes our ruin, so there is need of continual watchfulness. The false prophets and false Christs shall come and cause confusion, and immediately He Himself will be here. Therefore keep on the alert at all times, for almost at the same time all things come to pass.

Do not imagine you are unequipped for this. We have a High Priest who cannot be touched without the feeling of our infirmities. He is not ignorant of what concerns us, as many human high priests who know not those in tribulations. Our High Priest endured all things. He endured first and then ascended, that He might be able to sympathize with us. He endured reproach, hunger, being reviled, and far more. Therefore, look to Him. Look also to the sufferings of His disciples, reading Paul and hearing him say, "In much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments. Even to this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place." Has any one of us suffered the smallest part of these things? Yet Paul took pleasure in infirmities, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, that the power of Christ might rest upon him. Nothing is so glorious as a bond for Christ's sake. More glorious is it to be a prisoner for Christ's sake than to be an Apostle, than to be a Teacher, than to be an Evangelist. Is there any that loves Christ? He will understand what I am saying. He would rather choose to be a prisoner for Christ's sake than to have the heavens for his dwelling. More glorious than any gold were the hands Paul showed, bound in chains for Christ.

You entreat the Lord for daily bread and connection to the Vine, and rightly so. But remember what made the centurion worthy. Wherefore did Christ honor him so exceedingly? Because he made himself out unworthy even to receive Christ into his house, and by this mind he became worthy both of a kingdom and of attaining unto those good things which Abraham enjoyed. His humility, his faith, his understanding of authority under the Word, these brought him more honor than the whole Jewish nation. So approach the Lord with that same mind, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of this world. For what is the reproach of Christ? It is being reproached in such ways as you are, the reproach which Christ endured; the being reproached as you are for His sake.

Let no one deceive you into thinking that escape means a life without these pangs. If any should come promising easy peace now, remember: many false prophets will arise and mislead many. See to it that no one misleads you. The tribulation of those days is not protracted to a length of time; for the elect's sake, it is limited. For if the Jewish war was shortened for the elect's sake, much more shall this temptation be limited for these same ones' sake.

And should you stumble, should you feel your love growing cold in the face of lawlessness, do not despair. All that you have endured, these deceivers would strip from you and rob you of your crown. But if you have a mind to shake off drowsiness and recover yourself, it is not in vain. Here were men who had received the Spirit, worked miracles, become confessors, encountered a thousand perils and persecutions for Christ's sake, and after so many achievements had fallen from grace. Nevertheless, if you have the purpose, you may recover yourself. God's gift is so great, and any distastefulness in these trials is such a nothing. The very chains you fear can become your crown. Stand firm, then, for our whole life is in combats, and He who promised is faithful who also will do it.
