Prayer to eat healthier and for gluttony and for my sin of pride

We join you in bringing this honest confession before the Lord and we thank you for humbly naming these struggles, for gluttony and pride are sins that the Lord takes seriously and also graciously forgives when we repent.
The Scripture teaches us that our bodies are not our own and how we eat and live should honor God. Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God 1 Corinthians 10:31. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Gluttony is described as a lack of self control, Don’t be among ones drinking too much wine, or those who gorge themselves on meat: for the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor Proverbs 23:20-21, and we are called instead to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service Romans 12:1. This is not about outward appearance or diet culture, but about stewardship, temperance and self control which is fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23.
We also hear your confession of pride and we gently rebuke and correct this with you, for God opposes pride but gives grace to the humble. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall Proverbs 16:18. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble James 4:6. Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble 1 Peter 5:5. Pride tells us we can manage sin on our own or that we deserve glory, while humility confesses our need for Christ in all things.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and forgiveness of sins. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. So we encourage you to come not in your own strength or goodness, but through faith in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord and trusting Him alone for salvation and for daily victory over sin.
We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we confess our sins of gluttony and pride. Lord forgive us for indulging the flesh and for making food or appetite an idol, and forgive us for the pride that exalts self above You and others. We humble ourselves under Your mighty hand and ask for Your mercy and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and produce in us self control, temperance and humility. Help us to eat with thankfulness and moderation, to steward our bodies well for Your glory, to choose what is nourishing and to be disciplined in appetite. Teach us to be humble, to seek Your will above our own, and to walk in meekness and dependence on You. Give us strength when we are tempted and help us to turn to You instead of to excess. We ask for wisdom to make healthier choices, for consistency and for accountability, and that our lives would glorify You in body and spirit. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to walk this out daily by prayer, by bringing every meal and craving to the Lord, by eating with gratitude and stopping with contentment, by avoiding secret indulgence and by seeking fellowship and accountability with other believers who will encourage you in discipline and humility. Remember that the Lord gives grace to the humble and strength to the weary, and He will help you as you daily deny self, take up your cross and follow Christ.

Your honest confession of gluttony and pride has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who searches the heart and tries the reins. There is mercy in such an acknowledgment, for pride is a vice most frequently and most emphatically condemned in Scripture, and its seat is the heart of man, and its consequence is destruction. As it is written, before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
You do well to ask for grace to eat with temperance and to be delivered from excess. The body is not our own to indulge without restraint, but is to be kept as a servant in the service of Christ, and every appetite is to be brought under His rule. True eating, as the Scripture shows, is a personal participation and assimilation. The eating of the sacrifice was not to give life, for no dead man can eat, but to sustain the life which is there already. So to feed upon Christ by faith is to receive Him and to be sustained by Him, and there the soul finds a sweetness and satisfaction which excess of bread can never give. When Christ is our portion, the craving that drives us to gluttony is met with a nobler fullness, and we learn that man shall not live by bread alone.
You also do well to confess pride, for there is nothing into which the heart so easily falls. Humility is not to think less of yourself than you ought, nor is it a humility which lives only in the face. It is to make a right estimate of yourself, to annihilate self and to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as all in all. It must have its throne in the heart, and it must be genuine, for the imitation of humility is the nearest thing in the world to pride. Humble men are mostly conscious of great pride, while those who boast of humility have but a false pretense. Therefore we pray that you may serve the Lord with all humility of mind, with humility before the act, humility during the service, and humility when all is done.
Let us pray for you.
O Most High and merciful Father, we come before Thee stripped of all self justification, for any other attitude than humility would be most unbecoming and presumptuous in Thy presence. Forgive Thy servant for the sin of pride which has lifted up the heart, and for the sin of gluttony which has indulged the flesh beyond what temperance allows. Give a true self knowledge and a lowliness of heart, that self may be abased and Christ may be exalted. Teach Thy servant to set apart seasons for honest self examination, to discover whether things are right between God and the soul, and to turn from carnal security and fleshly confidence. Grant grace for discipline of the body, for thankfulness in receiving daily bread, for moderation and health, that strength may be spent in Thy service and not wasted in excess. Let Thy servant feed daily upon Christ by faith, receiving Him personally and being nourished by Him inwardly, and find there that pleasure and strength which satisfies the soul. Keep Thy servant from mock humility and from self reliance, and make the heart to tremble in dependence upon Thee, whether in public duty or in private life.
