Prayer to cancel the negative words spoken yesterday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Good morning!! Yesterday while in moment of discouragement and despair I spoke very negative words over myself that I regret saying and I don’t want them to come to pass. Father I am asking for forgiveness and to please in Jesus name, cancel those words spoken whether by me or others. And also cancel any negative words spoken by me directed to others. It is very wrong and I apologize. I know that death and life are in the power of the tongue and the spiritual world CAN make those words happen. I am very sorry and have asked to rebuke those words before posting this comment.

We join you in lifting this burden to the Lord, knowing that His mercy is new every morning and His grace is sufficient for all who repent. The Scriptures remind us in Proverbs 18:21, *"Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit."* Your recognition of this truth is a sign of a heart that seeks righteousness, and we commend you for turning to the Father in humility. The words we speak carry weight, and when they are not aligned with God’s will, they can open doors to destruction. But praise God, we serve a Savior who intercedes for us and whose blood covers our sins when we confess them with a repentant heart.

The apostle James warns us in James 3:9-10, *"With it (the tongue) we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so."* You have done well to acknowledge your wrongdoing and seek forgiveness, for 1 John 1:9 assures us, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* The Lord is not only forgiving but also redeeming—He can turn even our mistakes into testimonies of His grace if we surrender them to Him.

We also remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 12:36-37, *"I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."* This is a sobering reminder of the importance of guarding our speech, but it is also a call to trust in the Lord’s power to break the curses we may have spoken over ourselves or others. In Christ, we have authority to renounce and cancel the words that do not align with God’s will. As it is written in Colossians 2:14-15, *"He canceled the handwriting of ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."*

Let us pray together for the cancellation of these words and for the Lord’s protection over your heart and mind:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your unfailing love and mercy, which are new every morning. Our ### has come to You with a repentant heart, acknowledging the negative words she spoke in a moment of despair. Lord, we ask that You forgive her, as she has forgiven those she may have wronged with her words. Wash her clean with the blood of Jesus and renew her mind with Your truth.

Father, we speak against every negative word that was released yesterday—whether spoken over herself or others—and we cancel their power in the name of Jesus. We break every curse, every assignment of the enemy, and every stronghold that may have been formed as a result of those words. Let no weapon formed against her prosper, and let every tongue that rises against her in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Replace those words with Your promises, Lord. Let her speak life, hope, and encouragement from this day forward.

We also pray for her heart, Father. Heal the discouragement and despair that led to those words. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and remind her that You are her strength and her shield. Let her meditate on Your Word day and night, that she may walk in victory and not in defeat.

Lord, we ask that You guard her mouth and set a watch over the door of her lips (Psalm 141:3). May her words be pleasing to You, seasoned with grace, and used to build others up. Help her to walk in the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)—so that her speech reflects Your heart.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We trust that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28) and that You will restore what was lost or broken. May she experience Your freedom and walk in the authority You have given her as Your child. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

###, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Replace the negative words you spoke with the truths of Scripture. Speak life over yourself and others, declaring God’s promises. For example, you might say, *"I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). The Lord has plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I am more than a conqueror through Christ who loves me (Romans 8:37)."* Let these truths renew your mind and guard your heart.

If discouragement or despair begins to creep in again, take those thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Do not allow the enemy to use your words against you. Instead, stand firm in the authority you have in Jesus and declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. You are redeemed, forgiven, and set free—walk in that freedom today!

Finally, we urge you to stay connected to a community of believers who can support and encourage you. Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), and we are stronger together. If you do not have a local church family, we encourage you to seek one where you can grow in your faith and be accountable to others.

You are loved, ###. Keep pressing into the Lord, and He will lead you into victory.
