Prayer to be like the wise virgins

Jonathan_M

Beloved of All
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like for you to pray for me to be like the wise virgins. I pray for favor favor favor. I pray for miracles miracles miracles in pray for blessings blessings blessings. I'd like to pray against principalities and powers of darkness in high places. I pray for extreme, unmatched, unstoppable, unspeakable, abundantly, abounding glory all over the world. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in Jesus Christ name with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We join with you in prayer and thank you for your desire to be like the wise virgins, for this is a beautiful and biblical longing to be ready for our Lord's return. We stand with you in faith over all you have shared.

The Lord Jesus told of ten virgins, five wise and five foolish, in Matthew 25:1-13. The wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps, while the foolish took no oil. When the bridegroom came, the wise were ready to enter in. The oil speaks of a prepared heart, filled with the Holy Spirit, living in obedience and watchfulness. We are told in Matthew 25:13, Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. To be like the wise virgins is to walk daily in fellowship with Christ, keeping our lamps burning through prayer, the Word, and obedience, so that we are not found sleeping when He comes. We pray that God will give you wisdom and grace to live in this readiness, not by striving alone but by abiding in Him, for James 1:5 tells us if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We also lift up your prayers for favor, miracles, and blessings. We know our God delights to bless His children, for Psalm 84:11 says Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly. And Ephesians 3:20 reminds us He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Yet we gently encourage you to seek first the Giver more than the gifts. Our Lord teaches in Matthew 6:33, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. We pray not only for outward favor and miracles but for a heart that desires His will above all, trusting that His favor and blessings flow most richly when we are aligned with His purposes and His glory.

We agree with you in praying against the principalities and powers of darkness. Scripture is clear in Ephesians 6:12 that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. We are not left without help, for we are called to put on the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:11 that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, and the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God. We pray for the abounding glory of God to be revealed all over the world, for Habakkuk 2:14 declares the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea, and we long for that day with you.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, with thanksgiving. We thank You for this dear one who longs to be ready and faithful like the wise virgins. Fill them anew with Your Holy Spirit, keep their lamp trimmed and burning, and grant them oil in abundance through daily communion with You. Make them watchful, holy, and steadfast, rooted in Your Word and led by Your Spirit. Father, pour out Your favor according to Your will, work miracles that point to Your power and mercy, and release blessings that draw hearts to You. Let Your glory be seen in their life and spread abundantly across the earth. We take our stand against every principality and power of darkness in high places, and we ask You to clothe us in Your armor, that we may stand firm in the truth of Christ and walk in victory. Let Your unmatched and unstoppable glory cover the world as You have promised. We ask all these things humbly in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our access to You and our hope of salvation, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this desire to be ready and watchful like the wise virgins. That longing to stay close to Jesus and be prepared for what He has ahead is a good and beautiful one, and we are glad to stand with you in it.

One thing that has helped us understand that kind of readiness is that it grows more like training than trying. The wise virgins were not ready because of a last minute effort, but because of quiet preparation beforehand. In a similar way, our life with Christ is formed over time through small, steady practices done with a sincere heart, prayer, spending time in Scripture, honest repentance, and walking with other believers. Even a few minutes offered consistently can shape us to be more attentive to Him than occasional great bursts of effort.

If it would help, you might choose one simple rhythm for this season to keep your lamp tended, perhaps a brief daily time to be with the Lord and one regular time of fellowship or prayer with others, and let that be your way of staying watchful.

Father, we lift our friend to You with thanksgiving. Draw them close to Jesus, keep their heart tender and ready, guard them from the power of darkness, and lead them in Your wisdom and grace day by day. Let Your glory be seen in their life in the way You choose, and give them peace as they trust You. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a wise desire you have expressed, to be found among the wise virgins when the Bridegroom cometh, and it is a just and right prayer that we should bring before the Lord together.

The wise virgins were distinguished not by their lamp alone, but by having oil in their vessels, and that oil is the grace of the Holy Spirit, the living presence of Christ in the heart. The foolish had the outward form and the bright profession, but they lacked the inward supply. So we pray for you that you may not rest in an empty lamp, but may be filled with the Spirit, kept watching and waiting, with your light burning. Remember the wise men of whom it is written that they were wise because having started on the search they persevered in it till they found the Lord and worshipped him, and when they saw the star again they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. Thus be it with you, to persevere till you find Christ himself, and to worship him with a full heart, for wise men are liberal men who give themselves wholly to the Saviour.

You have asked for favor and miracles and blessings and glory, and for deliverance from principalities and powers of darkness. We join you in praying against the power of darkness, yet we would have you dwell by the Well, Christ Jesus, and never trust to the bottles of your own strength. He is infinitely wise as to the manner of his actions and infinitely powerful as to the acts themselves, and he never sleeps nor tires. It is written, The lot is cast into the lap but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord, and again, He shall choose our inheritance for us. It is therefore wise to leave the measure and manner of favor and blessing in his hands, who knows what is best for his children, and to seek first the oil, the readiness, the holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. The true glory that abounds and abides is not in unspeakable display before men, but in Christ formed within, and in a life made watchful and pure by his grace.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, grant to this soul the portion of the wise virgins. Give oil in the lamp, grace in the heart, and a constant looking for the coming of thy Son. Keep this one abiding in Christ, the only Saviour, for him that cometh to him he will in no wise cast out. Choose thou the inheritance, dispose the lot, and grant favor and blessing according to thine infinite wisdom. Guard from the powers of darkness, clothe with the armour of light, and let the glory be thine alone, now and at his appearing. We ask this with thanksgiving in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
