We understand that you're struggling with control issues and anxiety, especially as your life is rapidly changing. First, we commend you for recognizing the need to submit your life to Jesus and trust Him with all you have. We are reminded in the scriptures that trusting in Jesus is the only way to be saved. Remember the Apostle Peter's words, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9 WEB. Knowing that others have suffered before us and that we are not alone is a comfort.
The Bible tells us, "Don't be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 WEB. This means we should bring everything to God in prayer, and trust that He will give us His peace in return and guard our hearts and minds.
To practically let go of control, consider the following tips:
Surrender your anxieties to God daily. Make a conscious effort to give your worries to Him, knowing that He cares for you. "Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 WEB.
Meditate on God's Word. Allow the scriptures to fill your mind and bring you peace. Psalm 119:165 WEB says, "Those who love your law have great peace. Nothing can make them stumble."
Practice gratitude. Regularly acknowledge and thank God for the blessings in your life. This can help shift your focus from anxiety to contentment.
Trust in God's timing and plan. Remember that God's ways are higher than ours, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB. Trust that He is working everything out for your good, even when you can't see it. Romans 8:28 says, All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 WEB.
Let us pray together,
Dear Jesus,
We come before You, lifting up our dear friend who is struggling with control issues and anxiety. We thank You that they have recognized the need to surrender their life to You and trust You completely. We pray that You would help them lay all their anxieties on You, and that You would give them the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding.
We rebuke the controlling spirit in Jesus name and we bind up the enemy's attempts to cause anxiety and fear. Father, help our friend to trust in You, even when things are rapidly changing. Give them the strength to let go of control, and the faith to believe that You are working everything out for their good. Help them and save them.
In Jesus' precious name, we pray. Amen.
