A Hard Life
God sees the struggles of every worker and calls us to stand with them in justice and compassion.
Employers and Employees
Kindness between employers and employees builds mutual respect and demands fair treatment from both sides.
Ordinary People
God values the quiet faithfulness of everyday life and calls you to find purpose in your ordinary duties.
We join together with you in prayer and bring this matter before our Father in Jesus' name, seeking His perfect will for your employment and your future.

We understand your heart in this, that you have prayed not to receive this particular job, the MOM job, because it is not your top choice and because you have concerns of conscience that the work would support migrant workers in a way that you feel would harm or betray local citizens. We hear your desire to do work that is honest and that does not violate your conscience, and we want to lift that before the Lord with you.

We are reminded that God calls us to trust Him with our steps and our provision. We are told in Prov 3:5-6 to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And in Jer 29:11 we read For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. If it is not God's will for you to have this position, He is fully able to close the door, and if it is His will to redirect you, He will do so for your good. We also remember Col 3:23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, so we pray that wherever God places you, you may work in a way that honors Him with integrity.

We also want to speak gently to the concern you raised about migrant workers and local citizens. The Word of God calls us to justice without partiality and to love for our neighbor, including the foreigner among us. We read in Lev 19:33-34 When a stranger lives as a foreigner with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself. And in Lev 19:15 You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great, but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness. God also shows His heart in Deut 10:18-19 He does execute justice for the fatherless and widow, and loves the foreigner, in giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the foreigner. This does not mean we ignore the needs and welfare of local citizens, for God also calls governing authorities to act justly for all, but it does call us to not harbor resentment or view any group made in God's image with contempt. We encourage you to ask God to give you His heart of compassion and fairness for all people, both local and migrant, while also seeking work where you can uphold righteousness and a clear conscience before Him. If this job would truly require you to act unjustly or to violate what is right, then it is right to ask God to keep you from it, and to lead you to work where you can do good.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and to bring every prayer to God in His name, for He is our mediator and our hope.

So together we pray.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one to You and we thank You that You know the desires and concerns of their heart regarding this job. Lord, if it is Your will that they not receive this position, we ask that You graciously close that door and make Your will clear. If this job is not the best place for them to serve You with a clear conscience and to provide honestly, we ask that You withhold it and lead them instead to the work You have prepared for them. Grant them wisdom as promised in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask of You who gives generously. Provide for their needs according to Your riches, and give them peace while they wait on Your timing. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting in Matt 6:33 that all these things will be given to them as well. Give them a heart that loves justice and mercy for all people, and guide their steps so their work may honor You and bless others. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to commit your way to the Lord, to pray for His direction daily, and to trust that He will open the right door at the right time. He is faithful to lead those who seek Him.

We hear you on this, you are trying to be thoughtful about work that fits your convictions and also provides for you, and it is difficult to be in that in-between place of waiting for an answer about a job you hope does not come through.

Wanting to honor both your responsibilities and what you believe about serving your community is a good and serious thing to weigh. When a particular role does not sit right, it can help to get clearer on what does. We have found it helps to step back and name your interests, talents, values and skills, and how you hope to use them to serve God and others, and then talk that through with a wise counselor, pastor, or mentor who knows you well. That kind of conversation, along with continued prayer and looking at other openings that do align with your top choices, often brings more clarity than waiting alone with the question.

We are praying for you for provision and for clear direction in this next step, and for peace as you wait.

Father, in Jesus' name we bring our friend to You. You know the need for work and the desire to walk with integrity. Give wisdom for each application and interview, close the doors that should be closed and open the ones You intend, and provide for daily needs. Grant calm and confidence as You guide the path ahead. Amen.

We have received your request and we bring it before the Lord with you.

You have asked that you might not receive a position which you do not desire, particularly the MOM work which you feel would place you in conflict with your conscience regarding migrant workers and your fellow citizens. We understand the burden of seeking employment where your heart is not settled, and we desire to pray with you not simply for your own will to be done, but for the will of the Lord to be accomplished in your life.

The Scriptures teach us to say, if the Lord wills, we shall do this or that. All things are under His regulation and have their appointed place in His plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. It is wise and humble for us to bow before His sovereign providence and to ask for His guidance rather than to lean upon our own preferences alone. As we have often been taught, the sure way to have our way is when our way is God's way, and true prayer says with Christ, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.

We also remember that the Lord calls us to walk according to His revealed will, to do good unto all men as we have opportunity, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Every person, whether stranger or citizen, is made in the image of God and is to be regarded with compassion and justice, while we also have a right and good desire to provide honestly and to serve our own community with integrity. When duties seem to pull in different directions, we have need of wisdom from above to discern the path of righteousness.

Let us pray together for you.

Our Father in heaven, we thank Thee that Thou art King and that Thy will is the axle upon which all providence turns. We bring this dear one before Thy throne of grace and ask for Thy clear guidance concerning employment. If it be Thy will to close this door, we pray that Thou wouldst close it in Thy providence, and if it be Thy will to open another door more suited to conscience and calling, we pray that Thou wouldst open it. Grant wisdom to weigh every opportunity by Thy Word, grant peace to trust Thy hand when the way is uncertain, and grant provision for daily needs according to Thy riches in Christ. Work in this heart to will and to do of Thy good pleasure, and make Thy child willing in the day of Thy power to follow where Thou leadest. Keep this one from anxiety, establish his steps, and let all honest gain and labor be for Thy glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is the way of salvation, and in whom we have every promise. Amen.

May the Lord guide you, keep you near to His Word, and give you a quiet confidence that He who has begun a good work will carry it on till the day of Christ, and that He will withhold no good thing from them that walk uprightly.
