We join you in thanking the Lord for His goodness, for He is good and His loving kindness endures forever as Psalm 136:1 tells us, and we count it a blessing that you bring these needs before Him in prayer.
We lift up your desire for good rest. God intends sleep to be a gift and a restoration for His beloved, for so He gives sleep to His beloved in Psalm 127:2, and we are reminded in Psalm 4:8 that in peace we will both lay ourselves down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28 to come to Him, all who labor and are heavily burdened, and He will give us rest. We pray the Lord will quiet your mind and body at night, guard your heart from anxiety, and grant you deep, peaceful and uninterrupted sleep.
We also bring your wife before the Lord and pray for her health. Marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between a man and a woman, and we honor your care for your wife. We ask the Great Physician to touch her body and strengthen her, for He says in Exodus 15:26 that He is the Lord who heals us, and in Jeremiah 30:17 that He will restore health and heal wounds. We pray as in 3 John 1:2 that she may prosper and be in good health, even as her soul prospers, and that the Lord will give you both wisdom for any care she needs.
We pray for protection for your loved one whose name you included. We ask the Lord to be a shield and refuge, for Psalm 91:1-2 says he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and we will say of the Lord, He is our refuge and our fortress. We pray as Psalm 121:7-8 promises that the Lord will keep you from all evil, He will keep your soul, the Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forward and forevermore.
We bring your financial needs and the car issue before the Father. We know He cares about the practical details of our lives and He promises in Philippians 4:19 that our God will supply every need of ours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and in Matthew 6:33 to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to us as well. We pray for financial favor, for wisdom and discernment in decisions, for honest and skilled help with the car, and for a truly cost effective solution that will not burden your family, trusting that the Lord will provide what you need and teach contentment and stewardship through it.
We want to address with love and truth your struggle against lustful thoughts, for this is a battle many face and God calls us to purity. Jesus taught in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, and we are commanded in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality. Lustful thoughts, when entertained, dishonor your marriage covenant and grieve the Holy Spirit, yet God has made a way of escape. We are called in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and in Philippians 4:8 to think on whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are pure. We encourage you to guard your eyes as Job made a covenant with his eyes in Job 31:1, to renew your mind daily in Romans 12:2, to hide the Word in your heart as in Psalm 119:11 that you might not sin against Him, and to quickly turn from temptation, pray, and if needed seek accountability with a trusted godly brother. When we confess, 1 John 1:9 promises that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We pray for a clean heart as in Psalm 51:10, for strength to walk by the Spirit in Galatians 5:16 so you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh, and for grace as in Titus 2:11-12 which instructs us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and to live soberly, righteously and godly.
We notice your prayer was addressed to the Lord and we rejoice in your faith, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and receive salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord as Romans 10:9 teaches, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.
We pray together now, Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follows us all our days. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ for peaceful and restorative rest, for healing and strength for this dear wife, for Your hand of protection over this loved one, for Your provision and favor over finances and for wisdom and a cost effective answer for the car repair. Lord, we ask You to create in our brother a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him, help him to take every thought captive to Christ, to flee from lust and to walk in purity and faithfulness within his marriage, filling his mind with what is pure and holy. Forgive us where we have sinned and cleanse us, and help us to live in a way that honors You. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
