A Glorious Rest
Timely Reflections
Good News for Loyal Subjects
We join with you in thanking the Lord for His goodness, for every good gift comes from above and His mercy endures forever. We are grateful you have turned to Him for healing and for rest, for He is the One who both heals and gives true rest to His children.

We are encouraged by your desire for godly rest, and we lift up your body before the Lord asking for His healing touch. The scripture reminds us to praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. He also declares But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17 and He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might Isaiah 40:29. For rest, Jesus invites us, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28, and we are reminded In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. We pray that He will grant you deep, restorative sleep and peace that guards your heart and mind, and that you will find strength renewed as you wait upon Him.

We want to gently encourage you concerning your prayer. You addressed the Lord, yet you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why this is so important, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And scripture also teaches There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and can boldly come before God in prayer. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and to come to God in His name.

We pray together for you now. Father, we thank You for Your goodness and Your steadfast love. We lift up this dear one to You and ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You would lay Your healing hand upon their body. Touch every area of weakness, pain, and infirmity and bring restoration according to Your perfect will. Grant godly rest, quiet the mind and heart from anxiety, and let Your peace rule within. Help them to rest in You, to sleep deeply and wake refreshed, and to walk in strength and hope each day. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, that they may know Him more deeply and trust Him completely. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this prayer with us. Starting with thankfulness while you are not feeling well says a lot about your heart, and we join you in thanking God for His goodness even on hard days.

Wanting both healing and godly rest makes sense. When our bodies are unwell it touches everything, our energy, our sleep, our peace of mind, even how we see ourselves. It is normal to feel worn down or discouraged when rest does not come easily, and to wonder when you will feel like yourself again.

We are praying with you for healing and for the deep, settled rest that only God can give. Alongside prayer, if you have not already, we encourage you to let your doctor know how your body is doing and about the rest you are missing, so they can care for you well. It can also help to let one trusted person, maybe a pastor or friend or family member, know what you are carrying so you are not walking through this alone.

Father, we thank You for Your goodness to our friend. You see their body and their need for rest. We ask for Your healing touch in the way You know is best, for wisdom for those caring for them, and for quiet, restorative sleep night by night. Give them peace as they rest in Your care. In Jesus' name, amen.

We give thanks with you for the goodness of the Lord, for every mercy flows from His gracious hand, and we join our prayer to yours for healing and for that godly rest which He alone can give.

The Scripture speaks of a rest which is present and perfect, not only a rest to come but a rest to enter now. Our Lord Jesus says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is a rest given when we come to Him, and there is also a rest found as we learn of Him and take His yoke upon us. It is not the rest of idleness, but rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service with His yoke upon us, a deep and abiding rest for the soul which trusts Him. We who have believed do enter into rest, and there remaineth a fuller and perfect rest for the people of God in His presence.

We pray also for your bodily healing, and we remember that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. He is the Sun of Righteousness risen with healing in His wings, and He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Pardon and healing are joined together in His hands, and He is able to make the nature whole and to give peaceful rest to the conscience and to the body.

Our prayer for you is this, that the Lord would lay His healing hand upon your body according to His wise and loving will, and that He would quiet your spirit with that godly rest which is found only in Christ. May He enable you to trust Him fully, to learn of Him who is meek and lowly in heart, and so to find rest unto your soul, and may He sustain you day by day until you enter that eternal rest where there is no more weariness nor pain.

We commend you to His care, asking that He would strengthen you, keep you in His peace, and cause you to know more and more the sweetness of resting in His love. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and give you grace to rest in Him in all things. Amen.
