Thanksgiving Day
A Simple Remedy
The Monarch of Books
We have heard your request and we lift you up before the Lord together in prayer. We understand the desire to feel confident and beautiful in your body, and we know God cares about the concerns of your heart, even those that feel small or personal to you.

At the same time we want to lovingly speak truth to you from Scripture, because God calls us to view our bodies and beauty through His eyes rather than the world's. The world often tells us that worth is found in outward shape or appearance, but God reminds us, But Yahweh said to Samuel, Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him, for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7. We also read, Don’t let your beauty be the outward adorning of braiding your hair, and of wearing gold, or of putting on fine clothing, but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4 and Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30.

This does not mean caring for your body is wrong. Your body is a gift from God and we are called to be good stewards of it, for we read Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Exercise, strength, health and discipline can honor God when our motive is to be healthy, strong to serve Him, and to live with energy and thankfulness, but when our focus becomes an obsession with a specific shape or size it can become vanity and even idolatry, taking our eyes off Christ. Bodily exercise does have some value, but godliness is profitable for all things 1 Timothy 4:8, and we are called to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33.

We want to encourage you to ask the Lord to help you see yourself as He sees you, fearfully and wonderfully made, and to pursue health rather than a worldly ideal. If you desire to exercise and build strength, we pray you do so with wisdom, balance, proper nutrition and rest, and with motives that honor God rather than seeking attention or comparison.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and our prayers are heard. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. We encourage you to put your trust in Him above all else.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift this dear one to You. Lord, You know the heart behind this request and the longing to feel confident and loved. We ask that You fill her with the knowledge of how deeply she is loved and valued by You, not for outward shape but as Your beloved child created in Your image. Help her to see herself through Your eyes and to find her identity and worth in Christ alone. Give her wisdom to steward her body in a healthy and holy way, to pursue strength and health to glorify You, and to turn away from vanity, comparison, or any pressure from the world. Grant her contentment, peace, and a gentle and quiet spirit that trusts in You, and guide her to seek first Your Kingdom. We ask for healing where there is insecurity and for joy that comes from knowing You. Draw her closer to Jesus and let her know the hope of salvation through His name alone. We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this honest request with us. We hear how much you want to feel confident and at home in your body, and we want to pray with you for that deeper peace.

We live in a culture that puts a lot of pressure on women to look a certain way to feel valuable or beautiful, and it is easy for those messages to shape how we see ourselves. What has helped many people we walk with is gently asking what is underneath the wish itself, is it about feeling more confident, more noticed, more at ease? Learning to notice those thoughts and bring them to God can be a helpful next step, and it can help to talk them through with a trusted mature friend, mentor, or pastor who knows you personally.

We want you to know your worth is not measured by a shape or size. Who you are in Christ is steady and not easily shaken, and God cares far more about your character and your heart than outward appearance. He made you with care and calls you beloved, and He wants you to live before Him as your primary audience, not the shifting ideals around you.

We are praying for you.

Father, thank You for making our sister with care and purpose. We ask You to give her peace and a clear sense of how much she is loved by You. Help her to see herself as You see her, to grow in confidence in who she is in Christ, and to have wisdom and grace as she cares for her body. Lead her into joy and wholeness in You. In Jesus name, amen.

Your request has been brought before us and we have weighed it in the light of Scripture with prayerful care. We understand the desire to be at peace with your appearance, yet we cannot in good conscience ask the Lord to grant what is here asked, for to do so would be to treat prayer as a means to cultivate vanity rather than godliness.

The Scripture teaches us that contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated, and that not by any stoic process of self government, but simply and exclusively by faith in the Son of God. A man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions, nor in the shape or measure of his body. Alexander with all the world at his feet cried for another world to conquer, which shows that enlargement of outward things never quiets the heart.

We are reminded also that the life is more than meat, and the body than raiment, but the soul is as much more to be accounted of than the body, as the body is more important than the raiment. The body is but the rag that enshrines and covers the soul. It is the outward man which perishes, while the inward man is renewed day by day. That inward man is your true self, and it is that which the Lord most desires to make full and lifted up by His grace. We that are in this body do groan, being burdened, till the day of our full redemption, and therefore we are taught not to fix our hope upon fashioning the flesh according to the present taste of the world, but to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

This is a fitting occasion for honest self examination, to discover whether things are right between God and your soul, and for that lowliness of heart which becomes those who live near to God. True beauty in the sight of God is not found in the hourglass form so prized by this age, but in a meek and quiet spirit, in self humbling and self abasement before Him who searches the heart and tries the reins.

We will pray for you, not that your waist and back might shrink or your body be enlarged after a worldly pattern, but that the Lord would grant you contentment in Christ, health to steward your body as His temple with sobriety and moderation, deliverance from restless comparison, and a growing love for that inward renewal which outlasts the body that will soon be as food for worms while the soul outlasts the stars. May He teach you to know that your worth is not in outward form but in being united to Christ, and that seeking Him first will bring the peace which no change of figure can give.

If you desire exercise or care of health, do it as unto the Lord, with thankfulness and temperance, not for vainglory but for usefulness in His service. May the Lord turn your eyes from vanity and fix them upon Christ, in whom alone is fullness that satisfies.
