Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and for beginning with thanksgiving for God's goodness. That is the right place to start, and God delights in a thankful heart.
I want to pray with you for each of the needs you mentioned, and to offer some encouragement from Scripture for the battle you described.
For your rest, I pray the Lord will grant you deep and peaceful sleep. He gives rest to His beloved, and often our lack of rest comes from carrying burdens we need to place in His hands. As you wait on Him, ask Him to develop patience in you, for the testing of our faith teaches us to wait and to trust Him more fully. May He quiet your mind and renew your strength.
For your wife's health, I join you in asking God to touch her body and to sustain her. Scripture calls a husband to honor his wife and to care for her tenderly, recognizing her needs and cherishing her. Continue to love her well, to pray for her daily, and to watch over her with gentleness. The marriage bond is a precious gift from God, and your prayers together are powerful.
For the protection of your loved one, I pray the Lord will keep and guard them from harm. He is our refuge and shield, and He is faithful to watch over those who belong to Him.
For your finances and the car repair, I pray God will provide a wise and cost effective solution and show you clear favor. Remember that true richness is godliness with contentment. God knows your needs and He promises to supply what you need as you seek Him first. Ask Him for wisdom, for open doors, and for peace as you trust His provision rather than being driven by worry or greed.
Concerning lustful thoughts, be encouraged. Temptation itself is not sin. Every person faces temptation, and even Jesus was tempted, yet without sin. Sin comes when we yield to the desire and allow it to conceive. In every temptation you have a choice whether to walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit.
Temptation often promises immediate fulfillment if you will step off God's path, but that promise is empty. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not from the Father but from the world, and the world is passing away. You cannot truly satisfy lust by feeding it. The only way to deal with it is to starve it.
God has given you two helps. First, His Word hidden in your heart. When Jesus was tempted He answered with what is written. Fill your mind with Scripture so that when a thought comes you can answer it with truth. Second, God has given marriage as the place for that intimate gift to be enjoyed. Find your full satisfaction in your wife, delight in her, and confine that precious gift to the covenant of marriage alone. Turning toward what God has given protects your heart from being drawn toward a stranger where there is no love, only empty desire.
You do not have to be mastered by the flesh. In Christ you have died to the old life and been raised to new life. You can say, I do not have to yield to this, I am alive to God. When the thought comes, turn immediately to the Lord, pray, quote Scripture, and if needed, remove yourself from the situation. God is faithful and with every temptation He will provide a way to stand firm so you can endure it.
Let me pray for you now.
Father, thank You for Your goodness to this brother. Thank You for his thankful heart. I ask You to grant him deep rest tonight and in the days ahead. Lay Your healing hand upon his wife and strengthen her body. Place Your protection around the loved one he mentioned and keep them safe from harm. Provide for his financial needs and lead him to an affordable and wise solution for his car. And Lord, give him victory in the area of his thoughts. Help him to walk by Your Spirit and not by the flesh, to starve what would ensnare him and to feed his mind with Your Word. Help him to delight fully in his wife and to keep his heart pure before You. Fill him with Your peace and make him strong to choose Your way. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
