We join you in giving thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for His steadfast love endures forever and He daily loads us with benefits. We are grateful you have brought these needs before Him, for we are told in Philippians 4:6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
We lift up together your desire for good rest. Our God gives sleep to His beloved and invites the weary to find rest in Him. As it is written in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, and in Psalm 4:8 In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. We pray the Lord will quiet your mind and body at night and renew your strength.
We also bring before the Lord your wife and her health. Marriage is honorable and a gift from God, and we praise you for faithfully lifting up your wife in prayer. We ask the Great Physician to touch her, to strengthen and heal her according to His will, for He says in Exodus 15:26 I am Yahweh who heals you, and in Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We pray for protection over the loved one you mentioned and over your household, for Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and Psalm 121:7-8 reminds us Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.
We bring your financial needs and the concern about your car before the Father who knows what we need before we ask. We pray for His provision and wisdom for a cost effective solution, trusting Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and Matthew 6:33 But seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. We ask for favor, for honest and fair dealings, and for guidance to be good stewards of what He has provided.
We also want to address with love and truth your request against lustful thoughts. This is a battle many face, and Scripture speaks clearly about it. Our Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Lustful thoughts, when entertained, are not harmless but are sin in the heart and can lead to fornication or adultery, which dishonor marriage and grieve the Holy Spirit. We are commanded in 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We are to take every thought captive, as 2 Corinthians 10:5 says bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and to make a covenant with our eyes as Job did in Job 31:1 I made a covenant with my eyes, how then should I look lustfully at a young woman. We encourage you to guard your heart by dwelling on what is pure, as Philippians 4:8 says Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things. When temptation comes, flee from it, turn away, fill your mind with Scripture, pray immediately, and seek accountability with a trusted Christian brother. And when we fall short, we have hope in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We noticed your prayer was addressed to Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. As Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to come boldly in the name of Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and that by confessing with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved as Romans 10:9 teaches.
So we pray together now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follow us all our days. We ask You to grant our brother peaceful and restorative rest, to lay Your healing hand upon his wife and restore her health, to place Your hedge of protection around his family and loved ones, to provide financial favor and wisdom and a cost effective and honest solution for his car repair, and to give him strength to overcome every lustful thought. Cleanse his mind, renew his heart, help him to flee temptation and to walk in purity and faithfulness within the holy covenant of marriage. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with peace that surpasses understanding, and let him seek first Your Kingdom in all things. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
