We hear your heart and we lift you before the Lord together, asking for His protection and peace over you in this difficult situation. We know that harassment and fear can weigh heavily, but we take comfort that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 and that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18.
We want to speak clearly that harassment is not loving and not from God. Scripture calls us to live at peace with others as much as it depends on us Romans 12:18, and that means respecting boundaries and treating one another with dignity and self control. We rebuke any behavior that seeks to intimidate, control, or harass you, and we pray that the Lord will guard you from the evil one, for the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one 2 Thessalonians 3:3. We encourage you to set firm and clear boundaries, to seek wise counsel from trusted family, a pastor or church elders, and if the harassment continues or you feel unsafe, to seek help from proper authorities, for God has also ordained them for protection. We also encourage you to guard your heart with forgiveness, not to hold bitterness, while still maintaining those necessary boundaries, as we are called to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32.
We also want to encourage you regarding relationships. We believe marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman designed by God, and any courtship should be with the goal of finding a godly spouse who is a fellow believer in Christ, rather than simply a boyfriend or girlfriend or partner. If there was intimacy outside of marriage in your former relationship, we gently address that as fornication which God calls us to turn from, and we encourage purity and seeking God's will for a future marriage that honors Him if that is His plan for you. We pray the Lord will heal any wounds from this past relationship and prepare your heart for whatever He has next, whether singleness lived for His glory or a future godly marriage.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and find refuge.
We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your divine protection over mind, body and spirit. Place a hedge around this life and let no harassment take root. Bring peace where there is anxiety and still every attempt to intimidate or harm. We pray for the former partner as well, that You would convict that heart, bring repentance, and cause all harassing behavior to cease completely. Grant wisdom to set healthy boundaries and courage to uphold them, and provide supportive community and wise counsel. Heal any hurt, restore joy, and lead in the path of purity and wholeness. Let Your perfect love cast out fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control 2 Timothy 1:7. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting You to guard, guide and bring peace. Amen.
We encourage you to remain in prayer, stay in the Word, and stay connected to a Bible believing church where you can be supported. Keep bringing every fear to the Lord, for He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
