Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your need about the pain in your eyes and in your stomach. We are praying for you and bringing this before the Lord.
Living in this world means living in bodies that feel weakness and hurt. Scripture teaches that pain and suffering entered the world through sin, and that we all groan in these present bodies as we long to be free from them. God understands that groaning. He also gives us hope that a day is coming when He will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain, because the old order will have passed away and we will be with Jesus.
We do believe that God heals, and we are asking Him to heal you. At the same time, healing does not always look the same. Sometimes God touches instantly, sometimes He works gradually through the healing processes He has already placed within our bodies. Both are from Him, for He is the Creator of nature and of its processes, and any true healing is divine. Jesus did not work in only one pattern, sometimes with a touch, sometimes with a word, sometimes gradually, and we do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others are not.
Scripture shows us this clearly in the life of Timothy, who was a close and faithful companion of Paul and who struggled often with stomach problems and frequent illness. Paul certainly prayed for him, yet Timothy continued to have those difficulties, and Paul encouraged him to use practical means for his stomach. That example helps us see that when healing does not come right away, it is not a sign that you lack faith or that you have hidden sin. God does not heal in every case in the way we expect, and when He allows weakness to remain, He has purposes that we cannot fully understand.
What we can do is keep bringing everything to God in prayer. Much needless pain is carried when we fail to bring our burdens to Him, and to hold fast to Him while you are hurting is itself a deep expression of trust. Please continue to seek appropriate medical care as well, using the means God has provided, and keep your heart turned toward Him.
We pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one who is suffering with eye pain and stomach pain. You see the discomfort and the weariness it brings. We ask for Your healing touch, whether it be immediate or gradual through the natural processes You have ordained. Ease the pain, bring relief and strength to the body, and give peace and comfort to the heart while waiting on You. Help this one to feel Your nearness, to trust Your love, and to know that You care deeply about this suffering. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our healer and our hope. Amen.
