Thank you for sharing this prayer request and for the sincere desire to honor God in this relationship. That desire to wait until marriage is good and right before the Lord, and it is worth praying for and protecting.
Scripture teaches that marriage is God's design where two become one. It is not just a partnership but a covenant where one man and one woman are joined together for life as one flesh, a deep unity that reflects God's own nature as one. Because of that, the physical union belongs within that covenant alone. Waiting is not simply saying no to something outside of marriage, it is saying yes to God's purpose for marriage and to honoring one another as brothers and sisters in Christ until He joins you together.
Waiting well takes intentional spiritual strength. That strength is built by waiting upon God and feeding heavily on His Word, by steady fellowship and prayer, and at times by fasting, which is choosing to deny yourself certain good things to seek God more fully. As you both stay rooted in the Word, pray together and separately, stay connected to faithful believers who will encourage you, and keep your focus on Christ, God builds the inner man and gives you power to walk in purity. It also helps to have clear boundaries and accountability now, so that you are not relying on willpower alone but on the Lord's help and wise practices.
God's timing matters. Even Jesus waited for the Father's appointed time to reveal His work. Learning to wait on the Lord in this season is part of trusting His wisdom. A relationship that waits on Him is being built on the one foundation that will not move. Heaven and earth will pass away, but His words will never pass away. When your foundation is His Word and His will, you have real security that feelings or circumstances alone cannot give.
I am praying for you both. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask that You be the foundation of this relationship. Draw each of them closer to Yourself first, grant them salvation and growth through Christ alone, and teach them to seek Your kingdom above all else. Give them security in You, strengthen them to encourage one another toward purity, and provide wisdom, accountability, and grace to wait until marriage successfully. If it is Your will for them to be married, lead them in Your time and make that covenant a lifelong union of one man and one woman that honors You. Keep them from temptation, fill them with Your Spirit, and let their choices now reflect Your holiness and love. Amen.
