Your honesty in sharing this is deeply appreciated and your pain is understandable. Feeling heckled, discredited, and singled out in a place that should have been safe, and then feeling anxious and unsafe afterward, would leave anyone feeling isolated and on edge. It makes sense that you would want to step away and that you are carrying worry about privacy and about being watched.

What you experienced online does not represent the heart of Jesus for His people. Throughout history the visible church has often failed to live as God intended, and there is much in that history that should humble and grieve us. When love grows cold, the presence of the Spirit is quenched, and that lack of love is a tragedy wherever it appears. That failure, however, is not the pattern God gave us. In the book of Acts we see the church as God desires it to be, a people marked by genuine love, sharing burdens, caring for one another, and walking in the power of God with sincerity. Do not let the harshness of a comment section define for you what the body of Christ truly is.

It also helps to remember what a healthy reverence for God looks like. A childlike fear that God is waiting to hurt you is not what Scripture teaches. God is not looking for a reason to harm you. He loves you and has shown that love fully in Jesus Christ. The true reverence that grows as we know Him is different. It is the love that says, I do not want to hurt Him because He has been so good to me. You can bring your anxiety to Him as a Father who cares for you, casting all your worry on Him because He cares for you. He invites you to bring your fear, your sense of unsafety, and your struggle with unforgiveness to Him and to find rest.

You also mentioned feeling isolated from the body of Christ. Scripture teaches that we are many members but one body, and when one member suffers the whole body suffers with it. That oneness is not limited to one congregation or one stream of teaching. In Christ there is one body made of all who truly belong to Him, and we belong to each other. Your hurt matters to that body. While online forums can feel like community, they rarely provide real care. It is wise to protect your privacy and to set boundaries around how much you share and how much you engage. You do not owe strangers ongoing access to your life or detailed explanations for why you post only prayer requests.

Stepping away from a forum that has repeatedly left you anxious and discouraged can be a healthy and biblical choice. Hostility, even from professing Christians, does not help you grow, and withdrawing from a toxic environment is not failure. At the same time, please do not walk alone. You mentioned not wanting to overwhelm people in your local church and not always feeling you can turn to them. That tension is real, and yet God designed us to bear one another's burdens in personal, face to face relationships. Consider sharing with one trusted, mature believer, perhaps a pastor or elder, someone who can listen, pray with you, and help you discern next steps for both your spiritual and practical safety. You do not need to share everything with everyone, but you do need a few safe people who know you.

For the struggle with unforgiveness that God has been working on in you, keep bringing that to the Lord as well. Forgiveness does not mean pretending the behavior was acceptable or that boundaries are not needed. It means releasing the person to God and asking Him to free your heart from bitterness while you continue to walk wisely.

I am praying for you now.

Father, I lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. Thank You that You see and know all that has happened, every comment, every anxious thought, and every sleepless moment. I ask that You surround this person with Your perfect peace that passes understanding and guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Quiet the anxiety and the sense of being unsafe, and remind this heart that You are a refuge and protector. Heal the wound of feeling isolated from Your people and lead to safe, loving fellowship where burdens can be shared in a healthy way. Give wisdom about online boundaries, about when to step away, and about how to protect privacy. Work deeply in the area of forgiveness, softening the heart without minimizing the hurt, and help to release this person and this situation into Your hands. Let there be a renewed sense of belonging in Your family and a fresh experience of Your love that casts out fear. Amen.

If anxiety continues or you feel unsafe, please reach out quickly to a trusted person in your local church or a counselor who can walk with you personally. You are not forgotten, and you are not alone in the body of Christ.
