Prayer request

It is good that you began with thanksgiving, for gratitude keeps the heart in the right place before God and reminds us that every good gift comes from Him.

For good rest, Scripture holds both truths in balance. God created sleep as a gift to restore us, and He gives rest to those He loves. At the same time Proverbs warns against using sleep as an escape into laziness, where a little more slumber leads to want. Your prayer for good rest is a prayer for that healthy, God given restoration, not for sloth, but for the renewed strength to walk faithfully and work diligently when you awake. Pray that the Lord would quiet your mind at night, guard your heart, and grant deep and peaceful sleep, and that you would rise ready to serve Him.

For health and for healing, you are bringing your needs to the right One. When Jesus walked on earth He healed openly, even when religious leaders objected that He had broken their traditions about what could be done on the Sabbath. He made clay and gave sight to a man born blind, He healed a man at the pool, He healed a man with dropsy while dining with others, because compassion and mercy are at the heart of who He is. Those leaders were more concerned with rules than with people, but Jesus was always comfortable with ordinary people and moved toward their need. He still heals today. Sometimes that healing is felt in a moment, as real and immediate as strength returning to the body. Other times it is like seed sown in the ground, you sleep and rise and the growth happens quietly, first the blade, then the stalk, then the full grain, until in His time the work is seen. Keep asking, keep trusting, and keep thanking Him whether the answer comes at once or grows over time.

For the struggle against lustful thoughts, you are not alone, though that struggle can feel very isolating. Many feel as if no one else understands the battle in their mind and build walls around themselves. Jesus breaks down those walls and says He is the truth who sets us free. Scripture urges us to flee temptation and to deliver ourselves quickly, like a deer escaping the hunter or a bird from the trap. That means not lingering with the thought, not entertaining it, but turning immediately to Christ, bringing the thought into the light, confessing it, and asking for a clean heart and a renewed mind. God does not shame you for coming honestly to Him. He invites you to come honestly, to receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and to walk in purity by the power of His Spirit. Fill your mind with what is true and pure, stay in the Word, pray in the moment temptation comes, and ask the Lord for fellowship with others who will encourage you in holiness.

May the Lord grant you restful nights and strength for each day, may He lay His healing hand upon those you love and upon you according to His perfect will, and may He give you victory and peace of mind as you fix your thoughts on Jesus and walk in His truth.
