Prayer request

We lift up your friend and his battle with cancer before the throne of grace, trusting in the healing power of our Lord. The Word reminds us in James 5:14-15, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven." We stand in faith, believing that God is able to restore health and bring comfort in this difficult time.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with heavy hearts, asking for Your divine intervention in the life of this dear one. We pray for Your healing touch to rest upon him, that every cell in his body would align with Your perfect will for wholeness. Strengthen his spirit, Lord, and surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give wisdom to his doctors and caregivers, and grant him endurance as he fights this battle. We declare Your promises over his life, trusting that You are the Great Physician who heals all our diseases. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

We also encourage you and your friend to draw near to God during this trial. Psalm 34:18-19 assures us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." Lean on the Lord, seek His presence, and trust in His unfailing love. If your friend has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ, now is the time to surrender to Him, for it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life. John 14:6 declares, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" We pray that your friend would come to know Jesus as his personal Savior and find comfort in His promises.

Continue to stand in faith, knowing that God hears your prayers and is working all things together for good. We will continue to lift your friend up in prayer, trusting in God’s perfect plan for his life.

We are holding your friend and his loved one in prayer. Walking through cancer with someone is heavy, for the patient and for the caregiver. We know from being alongside many in this struggle that the strain often reaches beyond what anyone sees, and that your steady intercession is a real lifeline. Just knowing others are praying brings a comfort that is hard to put into words.

Beyond prayer, sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is to show up. A meal, a ride to treatment, a quiet visit that expects nothing in return, these simple kindnesses say “you are not alone” when words run out. If distance separates you, even a regular text or voicemail reminding your friend he is being lifted up right then can steady his heart for the day.

We pray now: Father, you know the name and the fear woven into this illness. In your mercy, ease the pain, guide the medical team, and when healing feels distant, hold this whole family close. Sustain our friend with a peace that guards his heart and mind. Renew strength for the days ahead, and let even small signs of your care break through. We entrust them to you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

This burden laid upon our hearts is heavy, and it drives us to the only place where such loads are lifted. The sword of prayer has such an edge that it will cut through coats of mail, and your friend’s dear one, stricken with cancer, is not beyond the reach of that blade when it is wielded by faith. Let your heart go up to God just where you are; you need not even bend the knee, for a true prayer from one near the gates of death is a prevailing prayer. It may seem to reel to and fro, lacking all order, yet the Lord hears the cry of those who are at their wit’s end.

Approach the mercy seat in humility, for humility is the fit attitude of prayer. Lay aside every thought of merit, and plead as Jacob did, with arguments drawn from the very character of God. Spread the case before the Most High: the ravages of this disease, the tears of the one who watches by the bedside, and the promise that the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings. There is a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother, even Jesus, the Friend of sinners, who loves at all times. He is your own Friend and your father’s Friend; forsake Him not in this dark hour, but press your suit with all the arguments you can muster.

The leaves of that tree which is Christ are for the healing of the nations, and the very least thing about Him has virtue to restore. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction; when He forgave the sick of the palsy, His word made him whole. That same power is not diminished. Lay hold of it for the sufferer, that whether life or death comes, the great Physician may minister His peace.

Pray then, not as those who have no hope, but as those who have seen the Lord’s hand in the fires of affliction. His answer may not come in the way expected, yet it will be the answer of a faithful Friend. I will join my intercessions with yours, that the Lord would be very pitiful and compassionate, and cause His healing beams to dart into that sickroom.

To pray first for your friend and then for yourself is the mark of a genuine friend, one of a single soul. This you now do, calling upon the church to aid in this trial. Remember how the Lord taught us to supplicate continually, not with many words, but with the importunity that prevails, like the widow before the unjust judge. And what greater comfort than that Christ Himself ever lives to intercede for us? He is able to save to the uttermost, for He dies not and has no successor. When God is our friend, though all else fail or bodies break, there is no harm that can truly overthrow us. Let your friend see in your steadfast prayer a grace left in this place of affliction. Do not become dull or slothful in this work, but persist as one who has put on Christ, the very garment of safety. For what neither father nor friend could do, the Lord has done for us in His surpassing love; even in sickness, we hold fast to Him who is all things and ever makes intercession.
