You pour out many requests, and the heart’s anxiety is plain. Yet consider what the apostle teaches: no temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Why then fear your husband’s fall as if God had abandoned him? Pray indeed for his purity, but entrust him to the faithful High Priest who was made merciful and faithful in things pertaining to God, having taken our flesh to have compassion on us. If Christ has reconciled us to God, will He not guard a marriage from sin? But your part is not to cling to him in suspicion but to adorn yourself with a meek and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight. A faithful steward is required to be found trustworthy, and this faithfulness is tested not in the absence of trials but in the midst of them.

You long to show your children the world, to travel and improve them. But what are the sights of foreign lands compared to the choirs of angels shining in a human body, the commonwealth of heaven manifested on earth? The fishermen turned the world upside down not by touring the great cities but by beholding the truth of things and walking in it. Do not think that you fail your children if you cannot give them distant journeys; you fail them only if you do not bring them to the fear of the Lord. The lessons of the philosophers and the grandeur of nations are children’s toys next to the acts of the apostles. Lead your young ones to see the beauty of holiness, and they will have treasure no thief can steal.

You plead for success in selling frames and lenses, for freedom from debt, for a retirement fund. These are not evil things in themselves, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. But listen: why do we mortify ourselves unless we expect future blessings? Have we endured so many evils, submitted to so many reproaches, suffered such insults and calamities in vain? If we trust in the living God for the salvation to come, will He not provide what we need for today? He is the Savior of all men, specially of those who believe, even in this life. Do not let the fear of reproach as a debtor drive you to desperate grasping. Even those who eagerly grasp at worldly advantages, supported by the hope of gain, cheerfully undertake laborious enterprises; how much more should you, who have a heavenly hope, do your work cheerfully and with fortitude, leaving the outcome to Him who sees what is done in secret. Work diligently as unto the Lord, and if He prospers your hands, give thanks; if not, consider whether He spares you from a greater snare. What does it profit to gain the whole world and lose your soul?

You ask to live until a certain age. The number of our days is with the Lord. Instead of fixing a term, pray rather that you live in faithful stewardship every day He grants. For if you are His beloved and faithful child in the Lord, your life will be a remembrance of His ways, and that is true success. He calls us to be saints, not merely to accumulate wealth for an uncertain retirement. The greatest inheritance you can leave your children is the memory of a mother who trusted God, kept her word not by anxious toil but by His grace, and showed them that the truth of the gospel is the one thing needful.

Therefore, let your prayer be turned not away from these things but upward: seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added. Do not measure your worth by sold frames or paid debts, for he who calls his brother ‘fool’ is in danger of hell-fire; how much more grievous to despise your own soul by making earthly security your god? God is faithful to finish the good work He began in you. Let your children see you praying with confidence, working without greed, and forgiving as you have been forgiven. That is the journey that will truly improve them and your country, for a commonwealth of righteousness exalts a nation. May the Lord who is merciful and faithful establish your heart in every good work, so that you may be found a faithful steward when He comes.

You are pouring out your heart in ways that reflect deep love for your family and a sincere desire to live honorably before God and others. That longing to see your husband walk in faithfulness, to provide for your children, and to keep your financial commitments points to a conscience shaped by integrity. Let me encourage you to rest those heavy concerns not on your own ability to manage outcomes, but on the faithfulness of God himself.

The core of your standing with him does not depend on your flawless performance or your husband’s perfection. Through Jesus Christ, God established a relationship with you that is anchored in his own unchanging character. He knows our weaknesses and our failures, yet he remains faithful. So when you pray for your husband to be kept from temptation, you are not hoping in his willpower alone; you are leaning on a God who is able to guard and sustain him. That does not remove your responsibility to pray and to encourage, but it shifts the ultimate weight onto the only One who never fails.

Your concern about being an embarrassment as a Christian because of debt touches on a vital matter of integrity. You want to keep your word, and that desire honors God. The scriptures urge us to provide things honest in the sight of all, and your business dealings with frames and lenses are a place where you can walk in that uprightness. Work diligently, treat customers fairly, and trust God with the results. He sees your effort and your heart. He can open doors for sales that no amount of striving could force open. In his law, God even left room for the miraculous healing of the leper, making provision for himself to work beyond the normal course of things. He is still the same God who can step into your financial situation and provide in unexpected ways.

At the same time, remember that material success is not the ultimate end. You want to give your children wonderful experiences, travel, and a secure future, which are good desires. Yet your deeper purpose as a person is fellowship with God himself. Many of us look back on seasons of financial tightness and see that those very times taught us to trust him, to discover his faithfulness, and to develop a character we would not trade. What feels now like a strain may one day be recognized as the hand of God preparing you or your children for something far greater than a comfortable retirement or an international trip. He knows the future you do not know, and he is orchestrating events for your true good.

So bring these requests before him boldly: the protection of your marriage, the health of your children, the ability to pay off what you owe, and even the desire to live to a ripe old age. But hold them with open hands. His faithfulness means he will do what he has promised for his children, which includes providing for your needs, finishing the work he started in you, and even using seasons of correction to draw you closer. When things do not go according to your timeline, do not strive with God as if he had forgotten you. Instead, ask him to reveal what he wants to build in your life through the waiting.

Keep your eyes on him rather than on the pressure of debts or the comparison with others. Your value is not measured by your savings balance or your travel itinerary. It rests securely in the fact that you are his, and he is faithful. Continue to walk in integrity, love your family, and trust that the One who has promised will never fail you or your children.
