We hear your concern and frustration, and we want to approach this with both truth and compassion. First, let us affirm that God has given us the freedom to enjoy the food He has provided. In 1 Timothy 4:3-4, Scripture warns against those who "forbid marriage and command abstaining from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving." The Bible makes it clear that all food is a gift from God, and no one should be made to feel guilty for enjoying what He has created.
However, we must also recognize that some choose a vegan lifestyle out of personal conviction, health reasons, or even misguided attempts to earn righteousness through works. While we respect their choices, we must gently correct any attempts to impose those choices on others as if they were biblical mandates. Romans 14:3 reminds us, "Don’t let him who eats despise him who doesn’t eat. Don’t let him who doesn’t eat judge him who eats, for God has accepted him." Neither side should look down on the other, for we are all accountable to God alone.
We also want to address the heart behind this issue. If someone is pushing their dietary choices aggressively, it may stem from pride, legalism, or even a lack of trust in God’s provision. Colossians 2:16 warns, "Let no one therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day." Our worth is not found in what we eat or don’t eat but in Christ alone.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the abundance of food You have provided and for the freedom we have in Christ to enjoy it with thanksgiving. Lord, we ask that You soften the hearts of those who may be pushing their dietary choices on others out of pride or legalism. Help them to see that their worth is not in what they eat but in their relationship with You. Father, we also ask for wisdom and grace for those who feel judged or pressured. Remind them that their identity is in Christ, not in the opinions of others. Give us all the humility to respect one another’s choices while standing firm in the truth of Your Word. May we glorify You in all that we do, including how we eat. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
If you or others have felt condemned or shamed for your dietary choices, remember that Christ has set you free. Galatians 5:1 declares, "Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage." You are not bound by the opinions of others but by the love and grace of God. Let us encourage one another to enjoy God’s gifts with gratitude and to extend that same grace to others. If this issue has caused division or strife, we urge you to seek reconciliation and unity in Christ, for He desires that we live in peace with one another.
