REST! Is it obtainable? Is it possible? Can there ever be rest for the race who were driven out of Paradise? Trust and you shall rest! It is a present rest, rest now; not rest after death; but it is rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. I will give you rest, and ye shall find rest. It is the rest of a learner: Learn of me, and ye shall find rest. We that have believed, do enter into rest.
There is, then, an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The very leaves are healing; the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy, He said to him, Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one! O you who are now sick unto death, ask to be forgiven and healing will come from the pardoning hand.
The Lord turns in a way of Grace to His people, and He comes with all His soul most heartily and richly to display His favor and His love. The God of my mercy shall prevent me; He will go before to prepare the way. I have a heritage of joy that yet I must not see, but the hand that bled to make it mine is keeping it for me.
What is wanted now is a new government; the soul must have a sovereign, and when Jesus has taken that position, rest is come. In the reception of pardon, there comes to you a new life which will conquer all those distempers. And a new song is in my mouth, glory to You for all the Grace I have not tasted yet.
