The prayer that rises from a heart that knows its need of rest, healing, and favor is a sweet savor unto the Lord. You ask for good rest, and this is a mercy He delights to give, for He has said, "I will give you rest." This is not a rest that waits for the grave, nor a fragment of ease that leaves the soul still tossed; it is a present rest, given when we come to Jesus. He does not say, "You shall find rest after long probation," but "Come unto me, and I will give you rest." And yet, there is more, there is a rest upon rest, a rest you find in wearing His yoke, in learning of Him who is meek and lowly in heart. The true repose of a child of God is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in holy service. Let your mind be conformed to the mind of Christ, and you shall find rest unto your soul: a deep rest, a growing rest, an abiding rest, discovered more and more as you walk with Him.
You entreat healing for the little one, and this is a cry that reaches the ear of the Great Physician. The very leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations, how much more the fruit! The least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue; His touch, His word, His look, all are charged with power to restore. Calvary is the place for the healing balm.
