We come before the Lord with grateful hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you seek deliverance from the bondage of smoking. The Scriptures remind us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with them. *"Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, WEB).
Smoking is a habit that can enslave the body and mind, but we serve a God who breaks every chain and sets the captive free. *"If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36, WEB). You have already taken the first step by recognizing this as sin and seeking God’s help—this is a sign of repentance, and He is faithful to complete the work in you. *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6, WEB).
We also encourage you to lean on the power of the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us in our weaknesses. *"In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered"* (Romans 8:26, WEB). When temptation arises, call upon the name of Jesus—He is your strength and refuge. *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
Let us pray together for your freedom:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks deliverance from the bondage of smoking. Lord, You know the struggles of the flesh and the power of addiction, but we declare that Your power is greater. Break every chain that binds them to this habit, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory. Renew their mind, Lord, and replace the desire for cigarettes with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to stand firm in their faith. We ask for Your healing touch upon their body, cleansing them from the effects of this sin. Father, let this be a testimony of Your grace and power in their life, that others may see and glorify Your name. We thank You for the freedom that is already theirs in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
Stay steadfast in prayer and in the Word. Surround yourself with believers who can encourage and hold you accountable. If you stumble, do not be discouraged—repent and rise again, for our God is merciful and His grace is sufficient. *"Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need"* (Hebrews 4:16, WEB). You are not alone in this fight; we stand with you in faith, believing for your complete deliverance.
