We understand your heart in seeking justice for the work you did eight years ago, and we join you in bringing this matter before the Lord. It is right to ask God for fairness, as Scripture reminds us in **Colossians 4:1 (WEB)**, *"Masters, give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven."* Your boss is accountable to God for how he treats others, including honoring his commitments. However, we must also consider the wisdom of **Luke 6:30-35 (WEB)**, where Jesus teaches, *"Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again. As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them... But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil."*
While it is not wrong to seek what is owed, we must examine our hearts. Have you forgiven your boss for this injustice? **Ephesians 4:31-32 (WEB)** urges us, *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Holding onto resentment can hinder your own walk with the Lord and your witness to others. If this debt has caused bitterness in your heart, we encourage you to release it to God, trusting Him to act on your behalf. **Romans 12:19 (WEB)** assures us, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"*
It is also important to reflect on whether pursuing this matter now, after so much time has passed, aligns with God’s will for your life. Sometimes, the Lord calls us to let go of past wrongs for the sake of our own peace and spiritual growth. If you feel led to address this with your boss, do so with a gentle and respectful spirit, as **1 Peter 3:15 (WEB)** advises, *"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear."* However, if this matter has already been laid aside, it may be best to trust that God will provide for your needs in His way and timing.
We also notice that while you ended your request with *"in Jesus' name,"* the prayer itself did not directly invoke the name of Jesus or acknowledge His lordship over the situation. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, as **John 14:6 (WEB)** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*) Let us always approach God through His Son, recognizing that our prayers are heard because of Christ’s sacrifice and mediation. If you have not yet surrendered this matter—or your life—fully to Jesus, we urge you to do so. Salvation and a right relationship with God come through faith in Christ alone (**Acts 4:12 (WEB)**).
Let us pray together for this situation:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your wisdom and guidance in this matter. Lord, You see the work that was done in good faith eight years ago, and You know the heart of the boss who has not fulfilled his obligation. We ask that You soften his heart and lead him to do what is right and just. If it is Your will for this debt to be repaid, we pray that You would open the door for a peaceful and honorable resolution. Give our brother/sister the words to speak if they are led to address this matter, and fill them with Your grace and humility.
At the same time, Father, we ask that You help our brother/sister release any bitterness or resentment they may harbor. Fill their heart with Your peace and trust in Your provision. Remind them that You are their Provider, and You will never leave them nor forsake them (**Hebrews 13:5 (WEB)**). If this matter is to be left in Your hands alone, grant them the strength to surrender it completely to You.
We also pray that if our brother/sister has not fully placed their faith in Jesus Christ, that today would be the day they recognize Him as Lord and Savior. May they understand that it is only through Jesus that we have access to Your throne and that our prayers are heard because of His righteousness.
Lord, we trust You in this situation. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
