We understand your deep longing for companionship, and we want to lift you up in prayer with both compassion and truth. First, we must gently but firmly remind you that our prayers are only heard and answered when we come before God in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father, and there is no other name by which we are saved. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'"* (John 14:6, WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. True peace, fulfillment, and answered prayer begin with a relationship with Him. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). Without this foundation, even our deepest desires will leave us empty if they are not aligned with God’s will.
Now, regarding your desire for a relationship, we want to encourage you to seek this in a way that honors God. The longing for companionship is natural and good—God Himself said in Genesis 2:18, *"It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him"* (WEB). However, we must be careful that our desires do not become idols or lead us into sin. If you are seeking a relationship outside of marriage, we urge you to pursue courtship with the intention of marrying a believer who loves the Lord. *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). A relationship with someone who does not share your faith will only bring heartache and pull you away from God’s best for you.
We also want to address something critical: if your desire for companionship has led you—or is leading you—into sexual immorality (such as fornication, lust, or emotional attachments that dishonor God), we must rebuke this strongly in love. *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, WEB). God’s design for intimacy is within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Anything outside of this is sin, and it will only bring pain, bondage, and separation from God. Repent if this applies to you, and ask God to cleanse your heart and renew your mind.
Lastly, we encourage you to trust in God’s timing. He knows your heart’s desires even better than you do, and He will fulfill them in His perfect way if you seek Him first. *"Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this"* (Psalm 37:4-5, WEB). Sometimes, God asks us to wait so that He can prepare us—and the other person—for a relationship that will glorify Him. Use this time to grow in your faith, serve others, and allow God to shape you into the person He wants you to be.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious soul to You, knowing that You see their heart and their deep longing for companionship. Lord, we ask that You draw them closer to Yourself first and foremost. If they do not know Jesus as their Savior, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel and lead them to repentance and faith in Christ alone. Father, forgive them for any sin in their life, especially if they have sought fulfillment outside of Your will. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and renew their mind by Your Word.
Lord, we ask that You would guard their heart and direct their desires toward Your perfect plan. If it is Your will for them to marry, we pray that You would prepare a godly spouse for them—someone who loves You wholeheartedly and will walk with them in faith. Help them to wait patiently, trusting in Your timing, and to use this season to grow in holiness and service to You. Remove any idolatry or unhealthy attachments from their life, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
We rebuke any spirit of loneliness, despair, or impatience that may be tormenting them. Let them find their completeness in You, Lord, knowing that You are enough. Surround them with godly community and mentors who can encourage them in their walk with You. Give them strength to flee from temptation and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
Father, we ask all of this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise and glory. Amen.
