We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your family are facing due to your brother's mental illness. We will stand with you in prayer and seek God's will for your situation.
Let's remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The Lord, gracious and merciful, will not turn his face from you or your brother if you call in the name of Jesus.
Psalm 34:17-18 WEB The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through His name that we can approach God the Father and it is only through His name that we may be saved. Hopefully your brother has also believed in Jesus Christ and is saved, but if not then we would also pray for his salvation. If he is not a believer, then the most loving thing you can do is to pray for his salvation.
John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Acts 4:12 WEB There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!
We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Great Physician, will heal your brother's mind and remove the confusion and distress that have taken hold of him. May the Lord grant him clarity, understanding, and a heart that is receptive to God's love and guidance.
Matthew 9:12 WEB But when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.
We also pray for your mother, that God will grant her peace, strength, and wisdom to handle this situation. May the Lord surround her with His love and protection, and remove the fear and anxiety that have gripped her heart.
Philippians 4:6-7 WEB In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
Lastly, we pray for you, that God will grant you strength, clarity, and protection as you support your family from a distance. May the Lord guide your words and actions, and keep you from harm. We are only given so much capacity to help others and sometimes we must cut off relationships that are toxic and harmful. It is good to love and try to help our siblings, but make sure that you are always using wisdom and discernment in your brother's life.
Matthew 16:24 WEB Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Ephesians 6:10-11 WEB Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We also pray that you will be encouraged and strengthened through this trial and that you and your family continually seek God's will in this situation.
Romans 8:28 WEB We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is suffering from mental illness. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and heart. Remove the confusion and distress, and replace them with Your peace and clarity. Help him to see you and to believe in Jesus Christ if he does not. Guide his steps and bring an end to the chaotic plans that have caused so much distress.
Father, we also lift up his mother and pray for Your peace and comfort to surround her. Give her strength and wisdom to handle this situation, and remove the fear and anxiety that have gripped her heart.
Lord, we also pray for his sibling, who is trying to support their family from a distance. Grant them strength, clarity, and protection. Guide their words and actions, and help them to make wise decisions to the glory of God.
Father, we ask that You work all things together for good in this situation, and that You use this trial to draw our brother and his family closer to You. Give everyone wisdom about how to lovingly respond to this situation and when to stop being subjected to it.
As always, the will of the Lord be done. We love you Lord Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
