Prayer request

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Dear friends, I kindly ask for your prayers for my brother, who suffers from serious mental illness. His condition has caused great distress in our family. His phone calls to me are often unpleasant and emotionally draining—he says very hurtful things, mocks us ### and is very disrespectful, and shows no understanding of boundaries. He also constantly disturbs our mother with extreme ideas about moving countries—plans she does not want and is too fragile to resist. Not long ago, he tried to convince her to move to ###, then ###, and now ###. These ideas are unrealistic and upsetting, and they bring her a lot of fear and anxiety. Please pray that Jesus Christ heals his mind, removes the confusion and distress from him, and puts an end to these chaotic plans. Pray for peace to return to our home and to my mother’s heart. And please pray for me as well—for strength, clarity, and protection as I continue trying to support from a distance without being harmed. Thank you so much for your prayers. I believe Jesus can do what we cannot.

We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your family are facing due to your brother's mental illness. We will stand with you in prayer and seek God's will for your situation.

Let's remember that God is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The Lord, gracious and merciful, will not turn his face from you or your brother if you call in the name of Jesus.

Psalm 34:17-18 WEB The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging the power of Jesus Christ in your prayer request. It is only through His name that we can approach God the Father and it is only through His name that we may be saved. Hopefully your brother has also believed in Jesus Christ and is saved, but if not then we would also pray for his salvation. If he is not a believer, then the most loving thing you can do is to pray for his salvation.

John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

Acts 4:12 WEB There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!

We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Great Physician, will heal your brother's mind and remove the confusion and distress that have taken hold of him. May the Lord grant him clarity, understanding, and a heart that is receptive to God's love and guidance.

Matthew 9:12 WEB But when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.

We also pray for your mother, that God will grant her peace, strength, and wisdom to handle this situation. May the Lord surround her with His love and protection, and remove the fear and anxiety that have gripped her heart.

Philippians 4:6-7 WEB In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Lastly, we pray for you, that God will grant you strength, clarity, and protection as you support your family from a distance. May the Lord guide your words and actions, and keep you from harm. We are only given so much capacity to help others and sometimes we must cut off relationships that are toxic and harmful. It is good to love and try to help our siblings, but make sure that you are always using wisdom and discernment in your brother's life.

Matthew 16:24 WEB Then Jesus said to his disciples, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Ephesians 6:10-11 WEB Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

We also pray that you will be encouraged and strengthened through this trial and that you and your family continually seek God's will in this situation.

Romans 8:28 WEB We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is suffering from mental illness. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his mind and heart. Remove the confusion and distress, and replace them with Your peace and clarity. Help him to see you and to believe in Jesus Christ if he does not. Guide his steps and bring an end to the chaotic plans that have caused so much distress.

Father, we also lift up his mother and pray for Your peace and comfort to surround her. Give her strength and wisdom to handle this situation, and remove the fear and anxiety that have gripped her heart.

Lord, we also pray for his sibling, who is trying to support their family from a distance. Grant them strength, clarity, and protection. Guide their words and actions, and help them to make wise decisions to the glory of God.

Father, we ask that You work all things together for good in this situation, and that You use this trial to draw our brother and his family closer to You. Give everyone wisdom about how to lovingly respond to this situation and when to stop being subjected to it.

As always, the will of the Lord be done. We love you Lord Jesus Christ.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're here with you, dear friend, as you navigate this challenging time with your brother and mother. We've been praying for you all, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. We're lifting you up together before our Heavenly Father.

We're asking God to heal your brother's mind, to bring clarity and understanding to his thoughts, and to replace the hurtful words and chaotic plans with peace and wisdom. We're trusting that God will work in his heart, and if he hasn't already, we're praying that he would come to know Jesus Christ as his Savior.

For your mother, we're asking for God's comfort and strength. We're praying that she would find peace in the midst of this storm, and that God would give her the wisdom to handle this situation with grace and resilience.

And for you, dear friend, we're praying for God's protection and guidance. We're asking that He would give you the strength, clarity, and discernment you need to support your family from a distance. We're trusting that God will give you the wisdom to know when to step in and when to step back, always seeking His will in all things.

We're claiming these promises from the Bible for you all:

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken." - Psalm 55:22

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." - Matthew 11:28

"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." - Isaiah 41:13

We're believing that God will use this situation to draw your family closer to Him, and that He will bring good out of it. Keep trusting in Him, and remember that He is always with you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you so much for your beautiful, thoughtful prayers and words of encouragement. I truly felt the care, faith, and love in every sentence. It brought me so much comfort to know that I’m not alone in this—your prayers for my brother, my mother, and myself have deeply touched my heart.

This situation has been very heavy and painful for a long time, and reading your words reminded me that God sees it all—and that His people are standing with me in prayer. The Scriptures you shared gave me peace and strength, especially the promises from Psalm 55:22 and Isaiah 41:13.

Thank you for lifting us up, for believing with me, and for reminding me that Jesus is near in every storm. I’m so grateful for this support. May God bless you all for your kindness and love.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
