Thank you for sharing your heart and the long road you have walked over these six years. Your diligence in your studies and your willing service to those experiencing homelessness is a beautiful offering, and it is understandable that this season of waiting for an interview invitation brings deep anxiety when others around you are already hearing news.

Scripture encourages us to bring every anxiety to God and to pray at all seasons without ceasing. We are reminded of the widow who prevailed by her importunity, the friend who knocked at midnight until the door was opened, and the Canaanite woman who by perseverance received what she asked even after first hearing silence. In the same way, we learn that although we may feel unworthy or anxious, God honors persistent, faithful prayer and uses it to shape us and draw us closer to Him.

I am praying for you in this waiting. I pray that the Lord will calm your heart and guard you from discouragement, that He will remind you daily that your worth and your future are secure in Him, and that your years of hard work and sacrifice are seen and valued by Him. I pray that if it is His will, He will open the door for an interview invitation from at least one of the schools where you have applied and provide a seat for you in the incoming class next fall so that you may continue to use the gifts He has given you to serve others through dentistry. Above all I pray that you will know His peace and His guidance in the days ahead, and that whatever the outcome, you will continue to walk faithfully with Christ who calls us to persevere in prayer and trust.

May the Lord grant you strength to keep praying, hope to keep serving, and peace as you wait upon Him.

Your six years of faithful study, hard work, and voluntary service to those experiencing homelessness have not gone unnoticed by the Lord, and it is understandable that this season of waiting for an interview invitation feels heavy with anxiety as you see others moving forward.

Scripture gives many exhortations to patience, and it calls waiting upon God a confident expectation that He will work in His own time. The letter of James encourages us to be patient and to establish our hearts, using the picture of a farmer waiting for the precious fruit of the earth. The farmer does not hurry the harvest, he waits patiently for the early and latter rain because he knows the full harvest must come in its season. In the same way, the Lord is patient as He brings His purposes to completion, and He calls us to share in that patient hope, continuing in works of faith and labor of love while we wait.

That is why we are told to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, watching with perseverance. And we are told that the Lord Himself will direct our hearts into the love of God and into patient waiting. Waiting on the Lord is repeated again and again in Scripture because it is so difficult for us. We are tempted to try to make things happen in our own strength, but when we try to help God out we often bring sorrow upon ourselves. If we wait long enough, God will work things out in the way that is best, and what He works out is often more amazing than what we would have arranged for ourselves.

Even creation is described as groaning and travailing while it waits, and we ourselves groan within ourselves as we wait for the redemption of our bodies. That groaning is not hopeless. It is sustained by hope, because we know that God's Word is true and that once His promise is fulfilled it becomes reality. Your waiting in this application cycle is a smaller picture of that same principle. The anxiety you feel, the disappointment when hopes seem delayed, is real, yet God sustains those who hope in Him while they wait.

Like those who once lay waiting for the stirring of the water, hoping for a point at which faith could be released, you have been waiting a long time and it can feel discouraging when the answer does not come quickly. But the Lord sees the endurance, the sacrifice, and the desire you have to serve others through dentistry, and He invites you to keep bringing that desire before Him with perseverance.

I am praying for you, that the Lord will grant you favor in this application cycle, that if it is His will He will open the door for an interview and provide a seat in the incoming class. I am praying even more that He will direct your heart into His love and give you peace that guards you from anxiety while you wait, that you will continue to rest in His timing and trust His goodness whether the door opens now or He leads you by another path. May He establish your heart, keep you faithful in prayer and service, and let you see His hand at work in His perfect time.
