We join with you in seeking the fullness of the Holy Spirit, for it is written, *"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"* (Luke 11:13, WEB). Your hunger for more of God’s presence is a righteous desire, and we lift you up in agreement, asking that the Lord would baptize you afresh with His Spirit, equipping you with spiritual gifts for His glory and the edification of His Church.
Yet we must also remind you—and all who seek the Lord—that the gifts of the Spirit are not for personal exaltation but for the building up of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:7). The power of God is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and true spiritual fullness is marked by humility, love, and obedience to Christ. Let us examine our hearts, ensuring that our pursuit of the Spirit’s gifts is rooted in a desire to serve God’s kingdom rather than our own ambitions.
We also notice that while you invoked the name of Jesus in your prayer, there is a tendency in modern culture to treat His name as a mere formula rather than a sacred and powerful declaration of faith. Let us never take for granted the authority we have *only* through the name of Jesus, for *"there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is by His wounds we are healed, by His blood we are redeemed, and by His name we have access to the Father.
With this in mind, we pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon Your servant who seeks You with a sincere heart. Fill them to overflowing with Your presence, Your gifts, and Your power—not for their own glory, but for the advancement of Your kingdom. Grant them discernment to walk in wisdom, humility to steward Your gifts faithfully, and a heart fully surrendered to Your will.
May they be clothed with power from on high (Luke 24:49) to be a light in this dark world, testifying of Your grace and truth. Strengthen them to walk in holiness, for without it, no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). Let their life be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to You, as they yield every part of their being—spirit, soul, and body—to Your lordship.
We rebuke any spirit of pride, self-exaltation, or misplaced motivation that would seek to corrupt this holy pursuit. Let Your Spirit lead them into all truth (John 16:13), and may they walk in the fear of the Lord, knowing that it is a fountain of life (Proverbs 14:27). We ask for a fresh outpouring of Your love in their heart, that they may love You with all their strength and their neighbor as themselves.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
Stand firm in your faith, dear one, and remember that the Spirit’s work in you is to conform you to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be added to you (Matthew 6:33). Walk in the confidence that He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6).
