Prayer request for today

Disciple of Prayer
Today is my birthday and I am grateful for so many things. This year has been especially hard for me. There are so many things going on in my life, yet I feel like I’m running in place and I’m so tired of living in all the chaos of life. In the end, the Lord is good and He will accomplish His holy will in all of this mess and will use it for my good, will bring glory to His name. I have only to trust, yet it’s so hard to let go and trust Him fully. Please pray that I will have a heart of contentment and that I will see beauty in my life as it is and wait patiently for God to change my circumstances or allow me to see His will in all this. I really desire clarity, patience, and peace.

Today also holds hints of sadness. A year ago yesterday, I went on a date with a professing Christian man. We had fun, even had a moment towards the end, but I held back emotionally because I wanted to be wise with my emotions. Afterwards, he suggested we see each other again and I agreed. He seemed yielded and very open, so I was excited for another date. However, soon after, he ghosted me and never reached out again. A month later, I accidentally called him and realized he still had my number but I was too embarrassed to talk to him again after he’d ghosted me. I blocked him and tried to forget about the whole thing but couldn’t. I know if we were meant to be together, something would have happened and we would have ended up together. So I can only assume that God didn’t allow it to go further for some good reason. Still, since then, I have felt hurt and confused about dating in general and no more connections have been made with any other men I’ve met. Today, I woke up and instantly remembered waking up on my birthday a year ago and realizing the guy hadn’t texted me or reached out. I just can’t shake this overwhelming sense of rejection and defeat when it comes to stepping out to try to date again. I’m experiencing fear, anxiety and fatigue. I know the Lord will guide me to and bring whomever He wants me to be with, but it’s been a long year of no connections and dates, conversations that go nowhere. I hate that this all happened around my birthday, too, because I feel like it sucked the joy out of celebrating. It doesn’t help that some of my family still gloats about my “failed date” and highlights the fact that I’m still single in my 30s. I’m feeling so lonely and tired right now but am expected to be happy and go out for birthday activities. I don’t feel like it and all I want to do is wrap up in a blanket and rest. Please pray for me. I’m not bitter towards my family, I’m just hurt and I feel so left out when it comes to relationships. I’m tired of being alone and being weighed down by the loneliness I feel. I know the Lord loves me, but tonight I’m not feeling loved. Please pray for me.

We hear your heart today, dear sister, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with deep compassion. Birthdays are meant to be celebrated, yet we know the weight of unmet longings and the ache of loneliness can overshadow even the brightest moments. You are not forgotten, and your pain is seen by the One who collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). Let us stand with you in prayer and encouragement, trusting that the Lord will meet you in your weariness and restore your hope.

First, we want to affirm your trust in God’s goodness, even when circumstances feel chaotic and stagnant. You are right to cling to Romans 8:28, which reminds us, *"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."* The Lord is not distant from your struggles—He is actively working, even in the waiting. Yet we also recognize how hard it is to release control and surrender fully to His timing. Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Today, we pray that the Holy Spirit would strengthen your faith to trust Him more deeply, even when the path ahead feels unclear.

We also lift up the heaviness of your heart regarding dating and relationships. The rejection you experienced last year was not just a missed connection—it was a wound that has left scars of fear and anxiety. We rebuke the spirit of rejection in Jesus’ name, for Scripture declares that you are chosen, holy, and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12). The enemy would love to keep you bound in discouragement, but we declare that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). The man who ghosted you did not steward his words or actions with godly wisdom, and we pray that the Lord would convict him of any carelessness in how he treated you. However, we also encourage you to release any lingering bitterness or embarrassment to the Lord. Forgiveness does not mean what he did was right—it means you refuse to let his actions define your worth or your future.

We must also address the pain caused by your family’s words. It is never easy to endure comments that highlight your singleness, especially when they come from those who should be your greatest encouragers. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that *"Death and life are in the power of the tongue,"* and we pray that the Lord would soften their hearts and help them see the harm in their words. You are not defined by your relationship status, and we declare over you that you are complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10). Your worth is not found in a spouse but in the One who calls you His beloved. We pray that the Lord would give you the strength to set boundaries with your family when their words bring more hurt than help, and that He would surround you with a community that builds you up rather than tears you down.

As you navigate this season of loneliness, we want to gently remind you that your desire for marriage is not wrong—it is a God-given longing. However, we must also guard our hearts against idolatry, where the desire for a spouse becomes more important than our relationship with the Lord. Psalm 37:4 says, *"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."* When we find our joy and satisfaction in Him first, He aligns our desires with His will. We pray that you would experience His love so deeply today that the ache of loneliness is overshadowed by the peace of His presence. May you find rest in Him, knowing that He is your true Bridegroom (Isaiah 54:5) and that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Lastly, we want to address the fatigue and overwhelm you feel. It is okay to not feel like celebrating today. The Lord sees your exhaustion, and He invites you to come to Him for rest (Matthew 11:28). We pray that He would give you the grace to honor your emotions while also trusting that joy will come in the morning (Psalm 30:5). You are not alone in this, and we stand with you, believing that God is preparing something beautiful for your future. Whether that includes marriage or a deeper intimacy with Him alone, we trust that He will fulfill His purposes for you.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today lifting up our sister who is carrying the weight of loneliness, rejection, and weariness. Lord, You see her heart, and You know the desires and pains that she has laid before You. We ask that You would meet her in this moment, wrapping her in Your love and reminding her that she is cherished. Father, we rebuke the spirit of rejection and fear that has tried to take root in her life. We declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her worth is found in You alone.

Lord, we pray for healing over the wounds caused by the man who ghosted her. We ask that You would bring conviction to his heart if he has not handled this situation with integrity, and we pray that You would restore her confidence in stepping out again when the time is right. Father, we also ask that You would heal the hurt caused by her family’s words. Give her the strength to set boundaries and the grace to extend forgiveness, even when it is hard. Surround her with a community that speaks life and truth into her heart.

We pray for contentment in this season, Lord. Help her to see the beauty in her life as it is, even as she waits for Your promises to unfold. Give her clarity, patience, and peace, and let her feel Your presence in a tangible way today. Remind her that You are her Bridegroom, her Provider, and her Comforter. May she find rest in You, knowing that You are working all things together for her good.

Father, we trust that You have a plan for her life, whether that includes marriage or a deeper walk with You. We ask that You would prepare her heart for whatever You have in store, and that You would remove any fear or anxiety about the future. Fill her with Your joy, even in the waiting, and let her know that she is never alone.

We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, the One who came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free. Amen.
