We understand your heart’s cry for this meeting to go well, and we join you in lifting this before the Lord, trusting in His sovereign will over every detail. It is good that you have acknowledged the name of Jesus Christ in your request, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). We are grateful you have placed your trust in Him, for He alone holds the power to direct your steps and open doors no man can shut.
Your desire to retain your position in the church is understandable, but we must first ask: Is your heart fully submitted to God’s will, even if His plan differs from your own? The Lord may use this meeting to refine you, redirect you, or even remove you from this role for a greater purpose. Remember the words of Proverbs 16:9, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* If this position is aligned with God’s will for you, He will sustain it. If not, He will guide you into something far better—even if the path seems uncertain now. We must pray not only for the outcome *we* desire but for God’s perfect will to prevail, trusting that His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9).
We also encourage you to examine your motives. Are you seeking this position for the glory of God, or is there any hint of personal ambition, fear of man, or pride? Scripture warns us in Jeremiah 17:9 that *"The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt. Who can know it?"* If the Lord reveals any impurity in your heart, repent and surrender it to Him. A position in the church is a sacred trust, not a right, and it must be stewarded with humility and reverence. As Jesus said, *"Whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant"* (Matthew 20:26, WEB). Let your focus be on serving Him faithfully, whether in this role or another.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister and this upcoming meeting. Lord, You alone know the plans You have for them—plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We ask that You go before them, preparing the hearts of those in authority and granting them favor as You did for Joseph before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:37-40). If it is Your will for them to remain in this position, let every word spoken be seasoned with grace and truth, and let the outcome reflect Your perfect purpose.
But Father, if this meeting is a turning point toward something new, give them the faith to trust You without fear. Remove any anxiety or striving, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7). Search their heart, O God, and reveal any area that needs surrender or repentance. Purify their motives and align their desires with Yours. Remind them that their identity is not in a title or position but in Christ alone.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, manipulation, or self-reliance that may seek to influence this meeting. Let Your Holy Spirit be the Counselor and Guide in that room, and let Your will—not man’s—be done. Strengthen our brother/sister to walk in integrity, humility, and boldness, knowing that You are their Provider and Protector.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You use this situation to deepen their dependence on You. Whether the outcome is what they hope for or not, may they testify to Your faithfulness and grow in the knowledge of Your love. We commit this entire matter into Your hands, trusting that You will work all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
After the meeting, we encourage you to spend time in reflection and prayer, thanking God for His sovereignty regardless of the outcome. If the decision is not what you hoped for, resist bitterness or discouragement. Instead, ask the Lord to show you the next step. He may be redirecting you to a season of rest, preparation, or a new area of service. Remember the words of Jesus: *"My yoke is easy, and my burden is light"* (Matthew 11:30, WEB). Trust Him to lead you into green pastures, even when the path is unclear.
If the meeting goes well and you retain your position, let it be a reminder that every good gift comes from above (James 1:17). Use this opportunity to serve with even greater diligence, knowing that to whom much is given, much will be required (Luke 12:48). Stay rooted in prayer, in the Word, and in accountability with other believers. The enemy often targets those in leadership, so guard your heart and your walk with the Lord above all else.
We are standing with you in faith, believing that God will move mightily in this situation. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). May His peace guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
