Prayer request for siblings to sober up

We lift up these precious siblings before the throne of grace, grieving over the chains of addiction that have bound them and praying for their complete deliverance. The Word of God declares in 1 Corinthians 6:12, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of anything." Addiction is a cruel master, but Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the mighty name of Jesus and command it to loose its grip on their lives.

We pray for godly people to be strategically placed in their paths, men and women of faith who will speak truth in love, model Christlike living, and walk with them through the process of recovery. Proverbs 13:20 reminds us, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." Father, surround them with believers who will sharpen them in faith and hold them accountable.

Most importantly, we cry out for their salvation. No amount of sobriety can compare to the new life found in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." We pray they would hear the Gospel with open hearts, repent of their sins, and surrender their lives to Jesus. Only then will they experience true transformation from the inside out.

We also pray for their physical and emotional healing. Addiction takes a devastating toll on the body and mind. Psalm 103:2-3 assures us, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases." We ask You, Lord, to restore their health, renew their minds, and fill the void in their hearts that they’ve tried to fill with substances.

Heavenly Father, we stand in the gap for these siblings, believing that what is impossible with man is possible with You (Luke 18:27). We declare Your promises over their lives: that You will complete the good work You’ve begun in them (Philippians 1:6), that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that they will rise above this battle victorious in Christ. Strengthen their will to fight, surround them with Your love, and draw them irresistibly to Yourself. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We hear how much you love your siblings and how heavy this has been to carry. Wanting them sober, surrounded by godly friends, and truly knowing Jesus is such a faithful thing to bring before the Lord.

One thing that helps many families is remembering addiction is not just a bad habit, it often becomes a way to escape pain or pressure and over time it takes priority over everything else. That is why change usually needs more than willpower. It needs God, and it needs other people walking alongside them. Your prayer for godly people to come into their lives is right on target.

A gentle next step as you keep praying is to stay connected to a steady community yourself. If you have a pastor or a mature believer you trust, let them know by name who you are praying for and ask them to pray with you regularly. If your siblings are open at all, a local church recovery group or a trusted counselor can be a low pressure place to meet people who understand this struggle and who point to Christ. And it helps to think through loving boundaries, what you will and will not do, so your support points toward health rather than carrying what is theirs to face.

We are standing with you in this.

Father, we lift these siblings to You in Jesus name. Draw each one to Yourself, open their eyes to Your grace, and bring faithful people across their paths who will love them well and speak truth. Give our friend wisdom, peace and perseverance as they love their family and trust You with what only You can do. Amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your healing power. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Your burden for your siblings is a right and holy burden, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who alone can save.

We pray that the God who commands, Look unto me and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, will turn the eyes of your siblings unto Christ. Salvation is not by works nor by money and without price, but by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. To believe on Him is to trust Him, to leave the whole matter of present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. We pray that each of them may be brought to that simple, instantaneous look to Jesus, for a look does not require a moment, and yet it brings present and perfect salvation.

We pray also for their sobriety, knowing that when salvation comes it delivers a man from the power of sin. It is not only forgiveness for sin, but emancipation from bad habits, unclean desires and carnal passions. May the Lord who is able to break the chains of strong drink do that great work in them, that they may know the common salvation which is salvation from sin leading upward to perfection and heaven.

We ask the Lord to bring godly people into their lives, companions who walk in truth and who will speak the plain Gospel to them, for faith comes by hearing. As you have asked, may it be household salvation, that those who gather around the same family table may together hear the word and be saved, for God has promised that He will have mercy upon all who look to His Son.

We will continue to pray that the Lord, who planned salvation in His infinite wisdom and provided it in the Person of Christ, will make Christ Himself to be their salvation, for He Himself is salvation and there is none other. May they find that to commit the soul into His hands is to be secure beyond hazard, for His honor is engaged to save the meanest of His sheep.

Continue to seek, to knock and to ask for them, for he that asketh shall receive. We commend them to that rich, free and irreversible salvation which is in Christ Jesus alone.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for your siblings has been heard and I join you in bringing them before the Lord with hope and earnest intercession.

I pray that God in His mercy will deliver them from the bondage of alcohol and grant them sobriety and clarity of mind. May He break every chain that holds them and give them strength to turn away from what harms body and soul, and to walk in self control and freedom.

I pray also that the Lord will place godly people in their lives, friends and mentors who speak the truth in love, who will walk beside them, encourage them, and point them faithfully to Christ. May He remove influences that lead them astray and surround them with a community that seeks righteousness.

Above all I join you in asking that they be born again. Jesus said we must be born again to see the kingdom of God, and this new birth comes only through faith in Him, through His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins. I pray that the Holy Spirit will open their eyes to see their need, soften their hearts to receive the gospel, and grant them repentance and living faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

Do not grow weary in praying for them. God is patient and full of mercy, and He desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. Continue to intercede, to speak the truth with love when you have opportunity, and to live before them as an example of the grace you pray for them to receive.

May the Lord comfort you as you wait, strengthen your faith, and in His perfect time bring your siblings into sobriety and into new life in Christ. Amen.
