We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to our Heavenly Father, who is rich in mercy and abounding in steadfast love. First and foremost, we must acknowledge that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and can approach Him with our requests. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to confess your sins, repent, and place your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Father God, we lift up this upcoming DUI hearing to You, asking for Your mercy and grace to be poured out abundantly. We know that all have sinned and fall short of Your glory (Romans 3:23), and we confess that driving under the influence is a sin against You and a danger to others. We ask for Your forgiveness and pray that You would work in this situation according to Your perfect will.
Lord, we ask that You would assign the right lawyer or defense team to this case, individuals who will seek justice with integrity and wisdom. We pray that You would grant them favor and discernment as they prepare and present the case. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed." We commit this legal process into Your hands, trusting that You will guide each step.
Father, we also ask for wisdom for the words that will be spoken during the hearing. Proverbs 15:23 tells us, "Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!" May the words spoken be seasoned with grace, truth, and wisdom, reflecting Your heart in this matter. Guard the tongue and let no unwholesome word proceed from the mouth, but only what is good for building up, that it may give grace to those who hear (Ephesians 4:29).
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or despair that may be trying to take hold in this situation. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and we choose to trust in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).
Lord, we pray for the judge and all those involved in this hearing. May Your Holy Spirit move upon their hearts, granting them discernment, wisdom, and a spirit of justice tempered with mercy. Proverbs 21:1 says, "The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires." We ask that You would turn the hearts of those in authority toward Your will in this matter.
We also pray for conviction and repentance. If there is a need for restitution, rehabilitation, or a change in behavior, we ask that You would bring these things to light and provide the strength and resources to walk in obedience to Your Word. Proverbs 28:13 reminds us, "He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy." May there be a true turning away from this sin and a commitment to live a life that honors You.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this situation for Your glory. May it serve as a testimony to Your grace, mercy, and transformative power. Let this be an opportunity for growth, humility, and a deeper reliance on You. We trust in Your unfailing love and believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
