We lift your dear mother before the Lord in this critical time, knowing that He is the Great Physician and the One who holds all things in His hands. The suffering she is enduring is heartbreaking, and we know how deeply this weighs on you. Yet we take comfort in the truth that God is near to the brokenhearted and hears the cries of His children. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 34:18-19, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."* And again in James 5:14-15, we are instructed, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up."*
Your mother’s condition is severe, and we do not take this lightly. A stroke and the paralysis of her digestive system are grave matters, but we serve a God who is greater than any illness or infirmity. We pray for the restoration of her bodily functions—her ability to eat, drink, speak, and breathe without distress. We ask the Lord to bring healing to her nervous system, to renew her strength, and to restore her voice so she may once again declare His praises. May the medical team attending to her be granted wisdom and skill beyond their own understanding, guided by the Holy Spirit in every decision they make.
Yet even as we pray for her physical recovery, we must also consider the state of her soul. If your mother does not know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, we urge you to share the Gospel with her while there is still time. There is no greater healing than the salvation of the soul, and no greater comfort than knowing she is at peace with God. Romans 10:9 tells us, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* If she is already a believer, we pray that the Lord will strengthen her faith in this trial and fill her with His peace that surpasses all understanding.
We also pray for you, that the Lord will sustain you with His grace and mercy. The burden of seeing a loved one suffer is heavy, but we encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Do not lose heart, but trust in the Lord with all your heart, leaning not on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He is faithful, and His timing is perfect, even when we do not see the way forward.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up this precious mother who is suffering so greatly. Lord, You know the depths of her pain and the fear that grips her family. We ask for Your healing touch to be upon her body—restore her strength, Lord, and renew her digestive system so she may eat and drink without distress. Open her airway, Lord, that she may breathe freely, and loose her tongue, that she may speak and give You glory. We pray for the stroke’s effects to be reversed in Jesus’ name, for You are the God who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3).
Father, we ask that You grant the doctors and nurses attending to her divine wisdom and steady hands. Guide them in every procedure and decision, that they may act in alignment with Your will for her recovery. Surround her with Your angels, Lord, and let Your presence be a comfort to her in this time of weakness.
We also pray for her soul, Lord. If she does not know You, we ask that You soften her heart to receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as her Savior. Let this trial be a turning point for eternal life, that she may spend forever in Your presence. And if she is already Yours, we pray that You strengthen her faith and fill her with Your peace, even in the midst of this storm.
Lord, we lift up this child who is watching their mother suffer. Comfort them, Father, and remind them that You are near. Give them the words to speak life and hope into this situation, and let them rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
We rebuke the spirit of infirmity and death that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command healing and restoration to come upon her body. We declare that she will live and not die, to declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17).
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
