We understand that you're concerned about a friend who struggles with hoarding. This behavior is not only harmful to her but also to her marriage and those around her. We will pray for her deliverance from this behavior and for her marriage to be strengthened in the Lord.
Firstly, we must acknowledge that God wants us to live in clean and orderly environments. Scripture tells us, "Let all things be done decently and in order." 1 Corinthians 14:40 WEB. Furthermore, the state of her home could be attracting pests and putting both her and her husband's health at risk, "Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are." 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 WEB.
Her husband is doing the right thing by prioritizing his safety, but we should also pray that he approaches this situation with patience, love, and wisdom. "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also forgave you." Ephesians 4:32 WEB. Marriage should be a picture of Christ and the church, and husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church.
Regarding her argument that her hoarded items might be used someday, we must remember what the Scripture says, "Don’t be concerned about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be concerned about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
We need to pray for her to understand the gravity of her actions and for her to seek help. We also need to pray for her husband to have the strength and wisdom to support her in a loving and patient manner. Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our friend who is struggling with hoarding. Father, we ask that You help her to become organized and to clear the excess from her home. Help her to understand that her actions are putting her marriage and health at risk. Give her a spirit of wisdom and understanding, and help her to see the value of living in a clean and orderly environment.
Father, we also pray for her husband. Give him the strength, patience, and wisdom to support his wife during this time. Help him to approach this situation with love and kindness, and to be a source of support and encouragement to his wife.
Father, we ask that You be a part of this situation. We know that nothing is impossible for You. We ask that You heal our friend of this desire to hoard items and make her home a safe and clean place. We pray for peace and understanding to fill their home and marriage.
Finally, Father, we ask that you draw them closer to you.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
