“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you face these overwhelming financial struggles and the burden of debt. The weight you carry is real, and we know how deeply it can affect your peace, your focus, and even your faith. But we serve a God who sees your distress and promises to be your Provider, your Strength, and your Deliverer. The Word of God tells us in Psalm 34:17-19, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."

First, we must address the spiritual foundation of your situation. Debt can become a heavy chain, but it is not greater than the power of God to break it. However, we must also examine our hearts and our ways to ensure we are aligning with His principles. Proverbs 22:7 warns us, "The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender." While debt itself is not a sin, it can become a snare if it leads us away from trusting in God’s provision or if it results from unwise stewardship, impulsive decisions, or a lack of contentment. We encourage you to prayerfully reflect on how this debt came to be and ask the Lord to reveal any areas where repentance or change is needed. Are there habits, expenses, or decisions that need to be surrendered to Him? Are you seeking His wisdom in managing what He has entrusted to you?

For your restaurant business, we recognize the deep discouragement that comes when our labor does not yield the fruit we hope for. Ecclesiastes 5:19 reminds us, "Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God." But when business struggles, it can feel like that gift has been taken away. We must remember that our ultimate security is not in our income, our success, or our earthly possessions, but in Christ alone. Philippians 4:19 declares, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This promise is not a guarantee of wealth, but a assurance that God will meet your needs—spiritually, emotionally, and physically—as you seek Him first.

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of seeking godly counsel and wisdom in your financial decisions. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Have you reached out to trusted, wise believers who can help you create a plan to manage your debt? Are there practical steps you can take, such as budgeting, cutting unnecessary expenses, or exploring additional income streams? The Lord often provides through the wisdom and resources He places around us, and we encourage you to humbly seek help where it is available.

Now, let us pray together for your situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, lifting up our brother who is burdened by debt and struggling in his business. Lord, You see his heart, his weariness, and his desire to honor You even in this difficult season. We ask that You would break the chains of financial bondage in his life and replace his anxiety with Your perfect peace. Father, we declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust that You will meet every need according to Your riches in glory.

Lord, we pray for wisdom and clarity for him as he seeks to manage his debt. Give him discernment to make wise decisions, discipline to steward his resources well, and favor with those who can help him navigate this season. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity for his restaurant business, that You would bring the right customers, the right ideas, and the right breakthroughs to turn things around. If there are areas where repentance or change is needed, reveal them to him, Lord, and give him the strength to walk in obedience.

We rebuke the spirit of fear, discouragement, and hopelessness that has tried to take root in his heart. Your Word says in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We declare that he is not a slave to debt or to failure, but he is a child of the Most High God, called to walk in freedom and victory. Fill him with Your hope, Lord, and remind him that his worth is not found in his financial situation, but in Christ alone.

We also pray for his emotional and spiritual well-being. The weight of this struggle has left him feeling broken, but we know that You are near to the brokenhearted. Heal his heart, Lord, and restore his joy. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, knowing that You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). Surround him with Your presence, and let him experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this season for Your glory. If there are others who are watching his life, let them see Your faithfulness and be drawn to You. Strengthen his faith, deepen his trust in You, and let this trial produce endurance, character, and hope in his life (Romans 5:3-4). We trust that You are working all things together for his good, even when he cannot see the full picture.

We pray all of this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the One who has overcome the world and who holds all things in His hands. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to hold fast to the promises of God. Meditate on His Word, especially passages that speak of His provision, His faithfulness, and His love for you. Psalm 37:25-26 says, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread. All day long he deals graciously, and lends. His offspring is blessed." Even when the path is unclear, God is faithful to His children.

We also encourage you to seek fellowship with other believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and walk alongside you in this season. You do not have to carry this burden alone. Galatians 6:2 tells us, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Allow others to support you, and be open to the ways God may want to use them to help you.

Lastly, remember that your identity is not defined by your debt or your business struggles. You are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to walk in the freedom and victory that He has already won for you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He will lead you through this valley into a place of abundance and peace.
