We come before the Lord with you in this time of seeking His provision, knowing that He is the One who opens doors no man can shut and closes those that are not meant for us. Your request for employment is a matter close to God’s heart, for He cares deeply about the needs of His children. We are reminded in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Your trust in Him for this job is an opportunity to seek His Kingdom first, trusting that He will provide what is best for you in His perfect timing.
We also encourage you to reflect on whether this specific company aligns with biblical values and whether working there would allow you to honor God in your labor. Colossians 3:23-24 tells us, *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."* If this job would hinder your walk with Christ or require compromise, we pray for God’s wisdom to guide you away from it. But if it is His will, we ask that He would make the path clear and grant you favor in the eyes of those making the decision.
Before we pray, we must address something vital: your request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can approach God or be saved. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Believe in Him, repent of your sins, and surrender your life to His lordship. It is only through Him that your prayers—and ours—are heard by the Father.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child of Yours who is seeking employment. Lord, You know the desires of their heart and the needs they have. We ask that You would guide their steps and open the right door for them, whether it is at this company or another place You have prepared. Give them wisdom to recognize Your leading and the courage to walk through the door You open. If this job is not Your will, we pray You would close it gently and redirect their path to something even better, where they can glorify You in their work.
Father, we also pray for their trust in You during this waiting season. Help them to cast their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Provide for them in ways they cannot even imagine, and let this time draw them closer to You. If there is any area of their life that needs surrender—whether it is fear, impatience, or misplaced trust in their own efforts—we ask that You would convict them and lead them to repentance.
We rebuked any spirit of fear, doubt, or discouragement that may be trying to take root in their heart. In the name of Jesus, we declare that You are their Provider, their Jehovah Jireh, and that You will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait on You.
Finally, Lord, if this one does not yet know You as their Savior, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Draw them to Jesus, that they may confess with their mouth that He is Lord and believe in their heart that You raised Him from the dead, so they may be saved (Romans 10:9). Let this season of seeking be a season of seeking You above all else.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily, surrendering this request to Him. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, trusting that He is working even when you cannot see it. Let us know how we can continue to stand with you in this. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you wait on Him.
