Prayer Request for friend's son

Anonymous

Beloved of All
My ###'s ### year old son developed a bad cough which caused him to cough up blood. The same night he was taken to the emergency room of a ###. After running several tests he was told he has cancer. Please pray for him. Please pray that he does get healed.

We lift our hearts together in earnest prayer for your friend’s son, who is facing this sudden and frightening diagnosis. Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all diseases and holds every life in Your hands. We ask for Your divine intervention in this young man’s life, that You would touch his body with Your healing power and restore him to full health. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We stand on this promise, believing that nothing is too hard for You.

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for the doctors and medical team treating him. Guide their hands, minds, and decisions as they care for him, that they may be instruments of Your healing. Give them clarity to understand the root of this illness and the best path to restoration. We trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that even in the midst of uncertainty, You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may be trying to take hold of this family. Your Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your love and comfort in tangible ways during this trial.

We also pray for this young man’s faith to be strengthened. If he does not yet know You as his Lord and Savior, we ask that this season would draw him closer to You. Let him experience Your love in a personal way, and may he place his trust in You for his healing and his eternity. For it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"

Father, we declare Your healing over this young man’s body. We speak life where there is sickness, strength where there is weakness, and hope where there is fear. May Your will be done in his life, and may Your name be glorified through this situation, whether through healing, miraculous intervention, or the testimony of Your sustaining grace. We trust You, Lord, and we thank You in advance for what You are going to do.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

What a heavy thing to hear, and how frightening for your friend’s son and for everyone who loves him. We are so sorry. A sudden word like “cancer” knocks the wind out of you, and in that stunned place it’s hard to know what to hold onto. We’re grateful you reached out, and we’re praying with you.

Right now, the most immediate need may simply be steady, unhurried presence. Your friend and her son are likely cycling through a blur of tests, appointments, and raw emotion. While medical professionals work on his body, the family needs the quiet gift of people who will sit in the tension without rushing it, people who will bring a meal, run an errand, or just listen. If you’re able, you might ask your friend what small, practical thing would lift even a corner of the burden this week. Sometimes the simplest gesture says “you’re not alone” better than words.

As you pray, know that you don’t have to manufacture the perfect phrases. You are simply bringing this ###-year-old son before the One who formed him and knows every cell in his body. We’re doing the same.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this man to you. You see the shock and the fear; you see the love of his mother and of those who care. Please give him peace that holds steady even when answers feel far off. Grant wisdom to his doctors and clarity in every decision. We ask for healing, full and complete, in the way you know is best. Sustain him and his family with unexpected strength, and let them sense your nearness in the quiet moments. In your name, Amen.

The sick one and those who love him are now driven, as it were, to the very gates of death, and such a plea, when wrung from an agony of soul, is a prevailing prayer. Often we are a long while before we pray to the Lord, but He is not a long while before He answers. Let your cry rise out of the low dungeon of this sudden terror. Expect that He will be very pitiful and will have compassion upon your misery. Remember Jerusalem on the brink of destruction when the Lord answered Hezekiah’s prayer and smote the vast host. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction.

You ask for healing, and you do well. Yet set your faith first upon the great Healer Himself. There flows from Christ an abundance of healing power: not only the fruit of His atonement, but the very leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. Bid this dear young man look to Jesus, for when Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” Pardon and healing were one. Ask to be forgiven, and healing will come from the pardoning hand. The one great cure-all for sin-sickness was that He took our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself. The medicine, bitter as it is, was all drained by Him.

Join, then, your prayers with the supplications of the church. There must be praying if we would have the healing power. Let the prayer meeting echo with this request. Let the saints continue with one accord in prayer and supplication. Yet watch against unholiness hindering those prayers. Examine your own heart; true humility in prayer destroys the chariot wheels of self-conceit. Spread the case before the Most High and press your suit with all the arguments you can muster: His promises, His mercy, His glory. Plead the blood of the covenant.

And though the answer may not come in the way you expect, though Jacob’s prayer was answered, it was not in the way he supposed, still, mighty prayer will yet prevail if it has but time. Spurn the dark suggestion to forsake the closet. Cry both in the daytime and at night, for the Lord will still hear. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry. Accept His rule and He will accept your prayer. Be willing to obey and He is ready to forgive. Then look for the Sun of Righteousness to rise with healing in His wings. He who has power on earth to forgive sins can say to this sick one, “Arise.”

Father, please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The Lord Jesus Christ, who is the true Son of God and yet for our sake stooped to be called Son of David, has power over every disease and even death itself. When He walked on earth, He did not merely entreat the Father to heal, but asked those who came to Him, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" For He is no mere king of Israel, as some imagined, but the very God who made heaven and earth. Let your prayers, then, be anchored not in desperate wishing, but in this firm confession: that Christ is able to command this cancer to depart, and that His will is always good, whether He grants temporal healing or takes the sufferer into eternal life.

Do not think it a small thing that this trial has come upon a young man. The physicians may see his youth and tremble, but God judges not by age. Some who hear the word a hundred times remain hard of heart, yet a single blow of suffering becomes the stroke that fells the tree of pride and brings forth the fruit of repentance. Let this young man, and all who love him, not despise the severity of the Lord's schooling. Even now, the delay of final judgment is a mercy, a space to wash away sins and draw near to the Healer of souls. Use this time well: pray without ceasing, yes, but also examine your hearts. Do you love the Son? For He Himself said, "He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me." If you seek only bodily healing while clinging to sin, you seek but half a cure.

I exhort you, therefore, to mingle your petitions with tears of amendment. The hoary head is only venerable when it acts worthily of its years; so too, the youthful body is only truly whole when the soul within it bows to the Father of spirits. Let no one think that fervent prayer alone, divorced from a changed life, can move the hand of God. Yet, do not despair. I am fully persuaded that such eager desire for healing will not fail of its reward in God's time. Only see to it that your faith rests on Christ as Very God, able to do all things, and not on any lesser hope. Then, whether He restores health in this world or takes him to that Kingdom where there is no sickness, you shall see the salvation of God. What is done in such faith is always healing, never despite.

The news you shared lands heavily on every heart that cares. Cancer is a frightening word, but we bring it into the light of a God who heals. Scripture reveals Him as Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer, meaning He becomes exactly what we need in moments like this. So we can pray with real hope for physical healing, trusting His power over every cell in that young man’s body.

Yet prayer finds its meaning only in relationship. Jesus taught us to pray “Father,” and that intimate connection is opened solely through His Son. If this friend’s son has never cried out, “God, be merciful to me, a sinner,” then the most urgent prayer right now is for his salvation. A genuine encounter with Jesus Christ changes everything. Healing flows from belonging to Him, because apart from that, prayer remains a transaction instead of a family trust.

Remember that the goal of prayer is not to force our will but to accomplish God’s will. Sometimes He answers with immediate restoration; other times He answers, as He did for Paul, with the words, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” We do not always understand the path He chooses, but we cling to His character. Your fervent, heartfelt prayer matters greatly. Scripture assures us that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much. Cry out from the depths, the way Hezekiah wept and prayed until God declared, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears,” and added years to his life.

At the same time, let David’s example steady you. He lay on the ground fasting and pleading for his sick son, yet when the child died, he rose, washed, and worshiped. He acknowledged that God’s decision, however painful, was final and still worthy of trust. Both Hezekiah’s miracle and David’s surrender honor the Lord, and we hold both postures before Him now.

Jesus Himself, the Son of God, rose early to pray and constantly withdrew to seek the Father’s strength. If He, being the Son, needed that communion, how much more do we? Gather believers around this need. Jesus promised that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything you ask, it will be done for you by the Father. We agree with you today, asking for complete healing that magnifies His name.

Hold tightly to the truth that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. His resurrection declares Him the victor over death and disease. May the Holy Spirit reveal Him afresh to this young man and to all who love him, bringing both spiritual life and, in the Father’s perfect wisdom, physical restoration. Keep praying without wavering, and rest in the love of the Father who gave His only Son for us.
