Prayer request for cousin ###

Beloved of All
Prayer request for ###. He is one of my favorite cousin. He's nice! Has always been nice to me. He speaks to alot of people. For him to get born again. For God to get a hold of him. Mind, body, spirit, soul. For God to remove alcohol addiction far from him. For God to send believers into his life. Save him from alcohol addiction possibly drug addiction as well. Thank you for praying for ###.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your dear cousin to the Lord. It is clear how deeply you care for him, and we join you in praying for his salvation and deliverance. The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 that the Lord is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." We stand on this promise, believing that God desires to draw your cousin near to Himself.

First and foremost, we must pray for his soul. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, as Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." Without Christ, there is no true freedom, no lasting peace, and no victory over sin. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus' name and command it to loose its grip on him. The Word of God says in John 8:36, "If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." We claim this freedom for your cousin, believing that Christ can break every chain.

Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that "greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Alcohol and drugs are tools the enemy uses to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We pray that God would supernaturally intervene in his life, removing the desire for these substances and replacing it with a hunger and thirst for righteousness. We ask the Lord to send godly believers into his path, men and women who will speak truth, demonstrate Christ’s love, and walk alongside him in his journey to freedom.

We also pray for his mind, body, spirit, and soul to be completely surrendered to God. Romans 12:2 urges us, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." May your cousin experience this transformation, where his thoughts, desires, and affections align with God’s Word. We ask the Holy Spirit to convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), leading him to repentance and faith in Christ.

Father, we ask You to hedge him in with Your angels, protecting him from temptation and the schemes of the enemy. Surround him with Your presence so that he cannot escape Your love. Soften his heart to receive the gospel and open his eyes to see the truth of who You are. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that he will walk in the victory Christ has already won for him.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we are saved. We believe that as we pray according to Your will, You hear us, and we have the petitions we ask of You (1 John 5:14-15). Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, trusting that Your timing and Your ways are perfect. May your cousin come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and may his life be a testimony of Your redeeming power. Amen.

It is a beautiful thing to read how much you love your cousin and how clearly you see the goodness in him. That matters. Addiction often tries to rewrite a person’s story until that’s all anyone notices, but you are holding on to what is true, he is kind, he connects with people, and he matters to you. That kind of steady love is no small gift. Often what looks like a pull toward a substance is really a deep, unmet ache for escape, comfort, or peace. The bottle may be what he reaches for, but God knows what his heart is actually crying out for, and He is not indifferent to it.

We are joining you in asking God to meet him right where he is, not with a thunderclap of judgment, but with the quiet, unrelenting kindness that leads a person to change. You are not overreacting to care about this, and you are not alone in the waiting. Sometimes the greatest thing a family member can do is simply refuse to give up on what God might be doing in the shadows. Even when you cannot see movement, grace is still at work.

Please pray with us:

Lord Jesus, we lift up this cousin to You, the nice one, the favorite one, the one who speaks easily with people and is loved. You know every hidden ache he is carrying, every reason he reaches for a drink, every chain he cannot break on his own. In Your compassion, send believers across his path who will speak life into his world without strangeness or pressure. Protect him from harm in the grip of addiction. Give him moments of sharp, sudden clarity where he sees that he was made for more than this. And give our friend here the steady hope to keep loving and praying without despair. In Your name we ask it, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How glad I am that you have brought this request, for it tells of a heart that longs to see your cousin brought out of darkness into marvellous light. It is no small thing to carry a soul upon your heart before the throne of grace, and you do well to plead with us to join you in this sacred labour.

The deliverance your cousin needs is that which only the Lord Jesus Christ can work. Alcohol and whatever else may hold him in bondage are but the surface of a deeper malady. The soul must be born again, else all other reformation is but whitewashing a sepulchre full of corruption. There is no true liberty but that of which Christ makes you free. Unless a supernatural power is put forth in it, any form of deliverance from sin is worth nothing; you must be born again from above if you are to go above. The grace of God, when it comes, makes a man a new creature in Christ Jesus; his flesh becomes fresher than that of a little child, for he begins life anew.

Let not your heart be troubled with the thought that his case is too hard. The ransom has been found. God Himself has devised the way, and it is a gift of divine love. The eternal purpose has settled it, and the clock of mercy will strike at the appointed hour. Salvation is all of grace; the blackest of sinners may look and live. The word is, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth.” It is not a matter of feeling, nor of bringing a price; it is without money and without price. He invites him simply as a sinner. Christ is a great Saviour, and however great his sin, His mercy is greater still.

Pray on, then, with expectation. Ask, and ask again. God has often taught monarchs and empires that He is God, and He can teach your cousin’s heart the same. His honour is engaged to save the meanest of His sheep. The Lord knows how to send believers across his path, perhaps even by your own faithful testimony. You have been kind to mention his pleasant nature; that common grace is a bridge over which special grace may ride. But remember, it is “He brought them forth.” The deliverance is the Lord’s doing, and it shall be effectual. When the Lamb was slain, Pharaoh could hold Israel no longer; and since Christ has died, sin and Satan cannot hold a soul that God ordains to set free.

Believe for him when he cannot believe for himself. Trust that the Lord will not only break the chains of addiction but will bring him forth with silver and gold, enriched with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The salvation planned by infinite wisdom secures deliverance from the guilt, the power, the curse, and ultimately the very existence of sin. What a comprehensive word is this, salvation! It is a triumphant deliverance indeed. And this salvation rests wholly upon Christ; he who hangs anywhere but upon the cross hangs upon that which will deceive him. Set your cousin’s hope there, and there alone.

We will join our prayers with yours, that the Spirit of God would arrest him, mind, body, spirit, and soul, and that he would soon be found confessing, “I will rejoice in thy salvation.” For it is God’s salvation; none other is worth having. Press on in prayer; the answer may be nearer than you think. The Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed. That promise is for your cousin; lay hold of it and never let it go.

You ask for prayer for your cousin, and rightly so, for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts. The root of his bondage to drink is sin, but where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Christ came not only to remit punishment but to give life, to free us from these very desires.

Consider this: the cure for an absurd desire is not to feed it with more of what it craves, but to draw the soul away from it entirely. A man who wishes to fly will not achieve it by building wings, but by convincing his mind that he seeks what is impossible. So it is with drink. Adding more drink never extinguishes the thirst; it only deepens the pit. The evil is stayed not by addition, but by taking away. Your cousin must turn his mind to the impossibility of finding satisfaction in the cup, and instead look to the fountain of living water.

Pray earnestly, then, for his new birth. As we are born again of water and the Spirit, so let us beseech the Lord to regenerate his soul. The hour is urgent: “Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Let there be no delay. Ask the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep, to make him perfect in every good work. Christ was made perfect through sufferings; if He suffered for us, He can use even this struggle to bring your cousin to glory, if he will yield.

And do not pray alone. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you.” Send into his life faithful believers who walk in the strength of grace, for the body of Christ must knit together. Grace does more than forgive former sins; it secures us against the sins to come. If only he will receive it, the very grace that pardons will also empower him to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world, looking for the blessed appearing of our great God and Savior.

Let us then beseech Him yet more earnestly. For He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it, if we faint not.

Thank you for sharing this request for your cousin. It’s clear you love him, and your desire for God to get hold of his whole being, mind, body, spirit, and soul, mirrors exactly what happens when a person is truly born again.

Jesus once told a deeply religious man named Nicodemus that unless a person is born again, they cannot even see the kingdom of God, let alone enter it. Nicodemus was baffled, thinking of physical birth, but Jesus was speaking about an inward transformation brought about by the Spirit. That’s what we’re praying for in your cousin’s life: not a self-improvement project or a recovery program alone, but a new birth. That’s the only foundation for lasting change.

The wonderful truth is that being born again is a work of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. When someone believes in Him, the Spirit gives them a completely new nature. Before that, we live from the outside in, body appetites ruling the mind and dragging the spirit along. A person caught in alcohol or drug addiction knows this tyranny well. But being born again flips that order. The spirit, made alive by God, begins to lead; the mind is renewed by His word; and the body, with its cravings, no longer dominates. This is not merely willpower, it’s the power of an incorruptible seed, the living and abiding Word of God, planted deep within.

So we pray that God sends believers into his life who will speak that Word with love and clarity. We ask the Lord to open his heart, because no one wills themselves into the new birth; it happens by God’s will, yet He invites whosoever believes. The moment of salvation is always “now”, today is the day God offers it. We trust that the same grace that brings salvation to all people will pursue your cousin until he turns and receives it.

We stand with you, asking boldly for his complete deliverance. Not just a break from a habit, but a whole new life, born again into a living hope, with victory that overcomes the world. May he soon know the joy of being begotten again, no longer defined by the old corruptible things, but made a new creation in Christ.
