Prayer request for a staff that wants to be a substitute teacher aid

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Prayer request for a staff that wants to be a substitute teacher aid. That her old boss doesn't mark her as a bad employee and will be able to get hired. Because her old boss did that to a lady that worked with her before and her boss seems to do that with staff that leave her classroom. Her husband works in the police department, her dad use to work as the school district supervisor so she treats her staff the same way she had seen her dad treat people and how her husband treats people. God make a way for her and other staff that may leave that classroom because it's getting toxic.

We join you in bringing this staff member before the Lord and we share your concern for her and for others who have worked in that classroom.

We see the injustice you describe, where a person in authority would use her position to mark a former employee as bad and to hinder her from finding new work. This is a serious matter before God. To bear false witness against another violates His command, as it is written Exodus 20:16 You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. And those who are placed in authority will give an account for how they steward that authority, for James 3:1 reminds us that teachers and leaders will receive heavier judgment. We must also say plainly that treating staff harshly because of power or family connections, whether from a father who was a district supervisor or a husband in the police department, is not the way of Christ. God shows no partiality and He calls those in leadership to lead with kindness and fairness. We pray that this boss would be convicted and turn from this pattern, for Ephesians 4:32 says And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

We also hear your heart for this staff member who simply wants to continue serving children as a substitute teacher aide. We want to encourage her that her promotion and her future employment do not ultimately rest in the hands of one person. Psalm 75:6-7 says For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation. But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another. And Proverbs 29:25 says The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. When we work with integrity, Colossians 3:23 tells us Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward. God sees her faithful work, He sees the toxic environment, and He is able to make a way even where man tries to close a door, for Isaiah 43:19 says Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Do you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

We also want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we have not yet put our trust in Jesus, we can do so by believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

So we pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this staff member to You. You know her desire to serve as a substitute teacher aide and You know the anxiety she carries about being falsely labeled by her former boss. We ask You to protect her reputation and to let truth prevail. Let no false report hinder what You have for her. Open the doors for employment that no man can shut and give favor with those who are hiring. We ask that You provide for her and establish the work of her hands.

We also lift up the other staff who have been affected and who may leave this toxic classroom. Bring them peace, healing, and new opportunities where they are valued and respected. And Lord, we pray for the boss herself. Convict her heart where she has misused authority and spoken harmfully against others. Bring her to repentance, soften her heart, and teach her to lead with justice and mercy as You lead us. Help her to unlearn any harsh patterns she has seen and to walk in Your ways instead.

We release any desire for revenge to You, for Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. So we choose to bless those who have mistreated us, as Luke 6:28 says Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Fill this staff member with Your peace that passes understanding, guard her heart from fear, and make a clear way forward for her and for every staff member affected by this situation.

We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our advocate before You. Amen.

We hear how much you care for your coworker and for others who have worked in that classroom. It is hard to watch someone who wants to keep serving children as a substitute aide while worrying that a previous supervisor might stand in the way, especially when the environment has felt toxic and others have had a similar experience.

We join you in asking God to make a clear path for her. We pray He opens doors where her gifts can be used and that those reviewing her application will see her work fairly and fully.

One practical step that often helps in this kind of situation is to help her gather a few other voices who know her work well. A brief written reference from another teacher, principal, or parent volunteer who has seen her with students, along with copies of any positive evaluations she already has, can give a hiring office a broader picture beyond one supervisor's report. If the district has a personnel office, she could also quietly ask how substitute aide references are handled.

Father, we lift this staff member to You. Give her wisdom and peace as she applies, protect her reputation and provide for her needs. Guide those making hiring decisions to act with fairness. Give her and others who have felt worn down in that classroom rest and renewal, and lead them to healthy places to serve. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your burden to the throne of grace and have pleaded with the Lord on behalf of this dear one who desires to serve as a substitute teacher aid.

It is a grievous thing to labour under the fear of an unjust report, and to feel the atmosphere of a place grow toxic and oppressive. The heart sinks when those set in authority use their power to hinder rather than to help, and when a good name, which is rather to be chosen than great riches, is threatened by partiality. Yet we are not left without comfort, for our God is infinitely just and He beholds all that is done under the sun. He is slow to anger and tardy to lift the rod of justice, giving space for repentance, but His justice slumbers not nor will it be mocked. If He spared not His own Son when sin was laid by imputation upon Him, but vindicated His holy law to the full upon the cross, how much more may we be sure that He sees every act of unkindness and every abuse of influence, and will in His own time and way make the crooked thing straight.

We remember also that justice and mercy meet in Christ. For the believer, justice is no longer an avenging sword but a satisfied friend, for all that we deserved has fallen upon our Substitute. Therefore we may come boldly and ask for mercy both for those who suffer and for those who cause suffering, that all may be brought to act in the fear of the Lord.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our righteous Judge, Thou who art of purer eyes than to behold iniquity with allowance, look upon Thy servant in her distress. Thou knowest her desire to labour faithfully with children, and the fear that an untrue word from her former place of service should shut a door which Thou wouldst open. We entreat Thee to make a way where no way appears. Guard her reputation, let truth prevail over misrepresentation, and grant favour in the eyes of those who hire. Soften the heart of the one in authority, that she may speak with fairness and not with revenge, and restrain her from marking any as evil who depart from her care. For those who must leave that classroom because its spirit has become bitter, we ask Thee to provide safe paths and needful provision, and to let no weapon formed against them prosper.

Grant to this sister and to all who feel this oppression a quiet confidence in Thy providence. Help her to commit her cause unto Him that judgeth righteously, to continue in integrity and gentleness, and to leave vengeance in Thy hands. May she find that when Thou turnest in grace to Thy people Thou comest richly and heartily to display Thy favour, and that even in trying circumstances Thou canst make her labour to be a sweet savour unto Thee through Jesus Christ.

We ask Thee to keep her husband and her household in Thy peace, and to let Thy justice and Thy mercy be her shield and exceeding great reward. Hear us for the sake of Him who bore the full vindication of Thy justice upon the tree, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
