We come before the Lord with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up this marriage before Him. Father, we know that You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16) and that what You have joined together, no man should separate (Matthew 19:6). We stand on Your Word, declaring that this covenant is sacred and worthy of protection, restoration, and honor.
Heavenly Father, we first ask for forgiveness—both for this husband and for this wife—if there has been any bitterness, unforgiveness, or pride that has taken root in their hearts. Your Word tells us that love keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5) and that we must forgive as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Lord, soften his heart toward his wife. Remove any hardness, resentment, or anger that has built up over time. Let him see her through Your eyes—as a gift, a helpmate, and a sister in Christ.
We rebuke the spirit of pride in this man’s life. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). Father, humble him before You. Let him quickly repent when he stumbles, turning from his own ways and seeking Your face. We declare that he will not hold grudges, for Your Word says that anger rests in the bosom of fools (Ecclesiastes 7:9). Instead, fill him with Your peace, patience, and kindness.
Lord, we break every chain that is holding him back from fully embracing this marriage covenant. Whether it be past wounds, ungodly influences, or the enemy’s lies, we declare them broken in the mighty name of Jesus. We speak life over this union, that he would be a man of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2), faithful in heart and deed, loving his wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25).
We pray that he would leave his current state of distance or hardness and be joined back to his wife in spirit, mind, and body. Let him speak blessings over her, as Your Word says that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). May his words build her up, not tear her down.
Father, we also lift up this wife before You. Strengthen her faith as she waits on You. Help her to love her husband unconditionally, even as she prays for restoration. Give her wisdom to respond in a way that honors You and draws him closer to You—and to her.
We declare that this marriage will reflect Your love, Your grace, and Your faithfulness. No weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and every plan of the enemy to divide them will fail. We stand in agreement with Your will, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
